Recap / Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2012 S 4 E 22 The Power Inside Her

Go To

Donatello becomes concerned and decides to test April, only to discover that her psychic abilities are rapidly growing in power.

  • Big Bad: Za-Naron, the dark Aeon who was inhabiting April's crystal the whole time and possesses her.
  • Big "NO!": Three times.
    • Mikey yells this upon witnessing April destroying Donatello under Za-Naron's possession.
    • April when she regains control of her body to realize the above.
    • Za-Naron lastly yells this when April destroys her.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: April versus Za-Naron! Just about everyone else, gets turned around the other way when April breaks free of the Demonic Possession and shatters the crystal, forcing Za-Naron to manifest herself physically, allowing April to finish her in a Single-Stroke Battle.
  • Demonic Possession/Grand Theft Me: Za-Naron essentially takes over April's body and mind and forces her to do things such as obliterating Donatello.
  • Hero Killer: When Za-Naron takes almost full control of April, she actually makes Donatello evaporate. After Za-Naron and her crystal are destroyed, Donnie is restored.
  • Knight Templar: Za-Naron.
  • Letting Her Hair Down: April generally does this throughout this episode.
  • Milestone Celebration: This is the 100th episode of this version of the TMNT series.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: After April evaporates Donnie thanks to Za-Naron and escapes, when she regains control of her body for a moment, she looks at her reflection in a rain puddle and realizes the severity of what she had been forced to do thanks to putting her Aeon crystal over her friends and family in the Turtles and Casey. Once she slays Za-Naron and ends her threat, April again asks herself what did she do when she remembers Donnie's fate at Za-Naron's hands. Miraculously, she is able to undo the damage and restore Donnie.
  • Preemptive Apology: April gives Donatello an apology right before Za-Naron takes control of her into destroying him.
  • Shout-Out: When the possessed April talks back to Leo, Mikey, Raph and Casey, she says, "There is no April, only Za-Naron!"
  • Take a Third Option: Donnie believed he could find a way to disrupt the crystal and get April's mind back, whereas the rest of the Hamato clan believed the only way to stop Za-Naron was to reluctantly destroy April. April, having loosened Za-Naron's mental grip just enough, takes it upon herself to destroy the crystal itself, which released Za-Naron into her physical form, allowing April to finish her off and completely break Za-Naron's hold on her mind.
  • Tempting Fate: Double Subverted with Casey Jones. We think him going after Rahzar, Fishface and Tiger Claw won't end well after being told by Raphael not to engage them alone, but he actually manages to fend them off and drive off with the van full of mutagen...only to hit a dumpster and wipe out, allowing Tiger Claw and company to catch up and get the drop on Jones.
  • Villain Has a Point: After Donnie is destroyed, April confronts Za-Naron about it, which the latter claimed this happened because she chose to keep the crystal instead of listening to his advice to get rid of it, therefore making her truly responsible for it. This is even carried out after Za-Naron and her crystal are destroyed.
  • "I Know You're in There Somewhere" Fight: Leo, Mikey, Ralph, and Casey dose this to April when trying to help her break free from the crystal.
  • Wouldn't Hit a Girl: Mikey couldn't bare himself to hurt April.
