A new product allowing people to do plastic surgery from the comfort of their home is on the market, and once Han Yaeji gets her hands on it, she grows obsessed with being beautiful.

on Speptember of 2020, it was adpeted into a an animated movie produced by studio anima.

Tropes

  • Abusive Offspring: Ye-ji is verbally and emotionally abusive to her parents, even threatening suicide to coerce them into giving her money so she can buy more Beauty Water.
  • And I Must Scream: Ye-ji ends up as someone's knee.
  • Adaptation Expansion: the animated movie explands on Ye-Ji's character and shows us a bit more into her psyche than the webtoon did.
  • Adaptational Early Appearance: Ji Hoon appears a lot earlier in the movie than he did on the webtoon.
  • Asshole Victim: By the end of the episode, Yeri pays for her arrogance and cruelty toward her parents by becoming Ji Hoon's knee.
  • Bad Boss: Yeri's boss, Lee Mi Ryul, constantly humiliates and bullies her in front of everyone. She also requests that Yeri cover her face with so that her "hideous face" does not scare anyone, adding to Yeri's insecurities about her appearance, and throws things at her.
  • Body Horror:
    • Beauty Water loosens and melts the user's skin, allowing them to cut and shape it to their liking. It also strangely increases the size of the users eyes.
    • After falling asleep in the tub full of Beauty Water, Yeri's body decomposes beyond recognition, forcing her parents to sacrifice some of their own flesh in an attempt to restore her. The results aren't… pretty.
    • Ji Hoon’s entire torso is covered the in the eyes of his previous victims. Ye-Ji becomes part of his leg.
  • Foreshadowing:
    • A news forecast reveals that several women have gone missing as of late, including Ye-ji's former boss Mi Ryul.
    • When Ji Hoon takes Ye-Ji to his house, she notices that he's not in any of the family photos he has displayed around the house.
  • Freudian Excuse: Ye-Ji is given one on the animated movie as her dreams on being a balerina were crushed because of her appearance. making her the way she is today.
  • Heel–Face Turn: After seeing her parents break down from her emotional abuse, Ye-Ji feels bad and almost seems like she's going to get her act together… although it doesn't last long since Ji Hoon gets to her before she can make any efforts to mend her relationship with them.
  • Karma Houdini: Ji Hoon takes Ye-Ji's eyes and puts them on his leg, meaning that she's joined his collection with likely no means of ever being found or saved. His advertising company, which was only set up to attract beauty women for him to kill, also Carrie’s on, and the comic/episode ends with Han, the director, giving another beautiful woman his visiting card.
  • Loser Protagonist: Ye-ji, the protagonist of this episode, is obese, still lives with her parents, whom she despises and treats horribly, works at a job where her boss despises and humiliates her, and can't even go out in public without people looking down on and mocking her.
  • Serial Killer: Ji Hoon has been kidnapping and making women a part of his body. Ye-ji becomes his latest victim by the end of the episode.
  • Ungrateful Bastard: While Ye-ji was horrible to her parents from the beginning, she is ungrateful about them giving up part of their own flesh to restore her appearance after her skin melted off from soaking in the Beauty Water for too long.
  • Unsettling Gender-Reveal: Ye-Ji learns that Ji Hoon was originally a young, average looking girl who was made fun of for her appearance, and thusly changed her appearance and gender into a man, only to realize it wasn't enough. With the Beauty Water, he made himself more attractive by kidnapping based on the features and using the flesh of young women.
  • Unstoppable Rage: Gina's calling Yeri a "pig" incites her to attack her, and the two fight until Yeri gains the upper hand and kills her. After this, Ye-ji takes the opportunity to use Gina’s corpse to restore her shriveled body back to it's beautiful appearance.
  • Villain Protagonist: Even before coming into contact with the Beauty Water, Ye-ji is not a good person.
  • A Wolf in Sheep's Clothing: Ji Hoon, who poses as a Nice Guy in order to get close to women so he can use Beauty Water to melt them down and make them a part of his body. Offscreen, he does this to several women, one of whom is Mi Ryul, and at the end of the episode, Ye-Ji becomes his latest victim.
