Saint Lazarus and the other Imperials holed up at the Basilica of Salvation get ready for their ceasefire talks with Ahsoka and the 501st as they prepare for the worst due to assuming treachery from the Republic's self-appointed dignitaries. Meanwhile, the space battle above Axum intensifies as the Republic Navy suddenly finds themselves in disarray after being cut off from Omega's commands, leaving Admiral Spikes to assume command while butting heads with Tarkin over their next course of action. At the same time, the Imperial Fleet's mounting losses drive Lord Admiral Sendurran to take extreme measures.

This episode contains the following tropes:

  • The Bus Came Back: Admiral Wilhuff Tarkin makes his return in this Season 4 debut episode after previously being Put on the Bus at the end of Season 1.
  • Cliffhanger: Just as the Imperials signal their agreement to attend Ahsoka's ceasefire talks, Rex is revealed to have secretly been corrupted by Chaos...
  • Didn't Think This Through: As Ahsoka gets ready for her ceasefire talks with the Imperium, Rex points out that she'll need to get Mace Windu (last seen falling to the Dark Side in Episode 42) onboard with her plan since he's the only one who currently possesses the authority to make sure the Republic's forces on Axum actually respect the terms of whatever agreements she makes with Lazarus. When Rex asks her how she intends to convince Windu to support her ceasefire talks, Ahsoka shrugs and weakly admits that she hadn't thought things that far ahead yet.
  • Dissonant Serenity: Captain Rex is eerily calm when he takes off his helmet in private and sees that his eyes are bleeding Tears of Blood. This is an indicator that he’s starting to get corrupted by Chaos like Commander 65.
  • Flare Gun: Once Lazarus has gathered the Imperials he plans to take with him to attend Ahsoka's ceasefire talks, Samael shoots a flare from his Hand Cannon into the air to signal to Ahsoka and Rex their willingness to negotiate a ceasefire.
  • From Bad to Worse: As if things weren't already bad enough for the Star Wars galaxy with the Imperium, Genestealers, elements of Chaos, and a Physical God Palpatine, now this episode drops the bombshell that both Slaanesh and Tzeentch have taken an interest in the Star Wars galaxy and are seemingly working together.
  • Hearing Voices: At the end of the episode, Captain Rex starts hearing whispers in his mind just as the Imperials signal to Ahsoka their agreement to her ceasefire talks.
Mysterious Voice: God is coming... God isss heeerre...
  • Hope Spot: Just when it seems that Ahsoka will finally get to sit down and talk with some of the more reasonable Imperials, it's revealed that Rex has been infected by Chaos and will likely ruin the peace talks.
  • Know When to Fold 'Em: When the Oracle System is taken down by the Imperials and the Republic Fleet begins taking heavy casualties, Admiral Spikes sees that continuing the assault is suicide and to orders the fleet to retreat back to the debris fields for cover.
  • Right for the Wrong Reasons: Saint Lazarus has his men put an anti-betrayal contingency in place for the Republic-Imperial ceasefire talks because he's Improperly Paranoid about Ahsoka pulling some Truce Trickery. However, this ends up being the right move anyway because the episode ends with the reveal that one of the Republic's "diplomats" (Rex) has been unknowingly corrupted by Chaos.
  • Ship Tease: Lazarus shamelessly flirts with Leahandra when she brings him his new mask created using Saint Gaksian's skull.
  • Tears of Blood: Captain Rex is now leaking blood from his eyes and strangely nonchalant about it, indicating that he's either falling to or has already been corrupted by Chaos like Commander 65 was.
  • Villain Team-Up: This episode's ending credits reveal that Tzeentch and Slaanesh are somehow involved in this story and have been working together behind the scenes.
  • Wham Shot:
    • When Rex pulls off his helmet and wipes away his eyes at the end of the episode, he sees blood on the tips of his armored fingers, revealing that he's started shedding Tears of Blood much like 65 did before falling to Chaos.
    • At the very end of the episode when the credits start to roll, the audience is shown images of Tzeentch & Slaanesh, indicating that the Chaos Gods are somehow involved in this series.
  • You Have Failed Me: In preparation for their ceasefire talks, Commissar Leerose selects Farnus to accompany her as part of the negotiating team specifically so if it turns out to be a trap by the Republic, she can be in a position to immediately execute the private.
