Prelude

Evacuation of the Xek-Tek Sector

It's the early 42^nd Millennium in the Milky Way Galaxy. The Imperial forces within the isolated Xek-Tek Sector gather to combat an incoming Tyranid hive fleet, with Drukhari interference allowing for a large number of the Imperium's forces to arrive in an abnormally coordinated and orderly fashion. This is a trap, as the Drukhari hope the Tyranids and Imperials will leave each other devastated, and the civilian population of the sector unprotected and ripe for harvesting.

Recognizing the trap due to his abilities and outside perspective, Primarch Roboute Guilliman orders the Xek-Tek Sector evacuated and the military forces therein to be recalled at once to join the Indomitus Crusade.

After gathering as many civilians and vital resources as possible and burning their worlds to deny them to the encroaching Tyranids, the Xek-Tek sector forces — consisting of three whole Space Marine Chapters and nearly a thousand Astartes from other Chapters, the entire Sector Battlefleet, thousands of Astra Militarum regiments, and various supporting elements of the Adepta Sororitas, Adeptus Mechanicus, and Imperial Knight Houses — attempt to leave their home but are cut off by Warp Storms, forcing them to make a risky jump through the Cicatrix Maledictum.

Arriving In a New Galaxy

The risky Warp jump hurls the Xek-Tek fleet through time and space to the edge of the Star Wars Galaxy, whereupon being severed from their connection to the Astronomicon, the Navigators panic and declare that the God-Emperor of Mankind is dead before being imprisoned or executed by the crews of their ships.
