- Antagonist Title: The titular "heralds of the end" refers to the Genestealers with the Tyranids being the "end" whose arrival they herald.
- Drop Pod: Mace Windu and the surviving Jedi from the failed assault on the Hellsmasher use their Boarding Pods as repurposed landing craft and travel to the planet below to reinforce Aayla and the 327th Star Corps just as the latter were about to be routed by the Sisters of Battle.
- Literal Disarming: Quinlan and Commissar Terrandor get into a Blade Lock during their duel, Rahm Kota intervenes and slices off the arm Terrandor was using to hold his chainsword.
- No Time to Explain: Mace Windu says "I'll explain later" in response to Aayla's confused reaction upon hearing him mention that his strike force fought a Librarian aboard the Imperial ship Hellsmasher.
- Stab the Sky: Mace Windu ignites his lightsaber and raises it high in the air in front of hundreds of Jedi as he calls them to battle.
