  • Bilingual Bonus: Herr Von Wilcox refers to the large union that he had a problem with as a "Soviet schweinhund''.
  • Exactly What I Meant to Say: Herr Von Wilcox when he apparently confuses the SAS with the SS.
  • Fed to the Beast: After giving himself too many perks in the latest budget, Nigel Lawson gets dropped by Thatcher into the crocodile pit below No. 10.
  • Funny Background Event: While Thatcher and Herr Von Wilcox chat in the garden at No. 10, Denis can be seen in the background hanging up some oversized banknotes.

  • Reassigned to Antarctica: Inverted. The governor of the Falklands asks Prince Charles for permission to marry one of the local sheep. Charles decides to arrange a new posting for him in Bermuda since he's clearly cracking under the strain, which is exactly what the governor wanted to happen.
  • The Stinger: Mary Whitehouse watches a sketch where The Queen tries to coax Charles to eat his semolina before bursting out weeping over the fact that the programme will be back on the air after taking a break the following week.
  • Take That!: Prince Charles, when he tries to convince the governor of the Falklands not to marry the sheep he's engaged to:
Charles: I fully understand how lonely one must get in the Falklands, Governor, but have you considered the consequences of such a union...the difficulties you'll encounter, the whispers, the silent scorn, the pointing fingers?
