Tropes

  • Amnesia Episode: While in battle against Eggman, Knuckles hits a boulder head-first, which causes him to suffer from amnesia and go into a 10-Minute Retirement.
  • Aw, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other: After the mech suit gets disabled, Belinda pulls Charlie to safety before running off.
  • Bait-and-Switch: After remembering he's the last of his kind, Knuckles becomes lonely and attempts to find a family. He first tries to do this with a warthog villager, but he shuts the door in his face. The echidna tries two more times at what seem like different houses... until it's revealed he never left.
Warthog Villager: Maybe you should try a different house. (shuts the door a third time)
  • Brick Joke: After losing the opening fight, Eggman says he's headed to a new falafel place. Later, getting food for Charlie and Belinda, Knuckles says he went to that falafel place on the basis of Eggman's positive blog review.
  • Dragged into Drag: When Knuckles tries to get Lady Walrus to adopt him, Lady Walrus tells him she always wanted a daughter. Knuckles tells Lady Walrus that he's not a girl, but Lady Walrus insists that she always wanted a daughter. In the next scene, Knuckles is seen wearing a dress as Lady Walrus takes him, Stratford, and Chumley to Meh Burger for lunch.
  • Evil Laugh: Charlie and Belinda over the prospect of turning Knuckles evil. Knuckles joins in for no other reason than to make them happy.
  • Group Hug: Team Sonic do this after Amy tells Knuckles, who's been trying to find a family, that they're his family.
  • Have We Met?: Upon Charlie referring to himself as his Arch-Enemy, Knuckles has this reaction, much to Charlie's frustration.
Charlie: Of course we've met! You got me fired from two different jobs! You almost ended my marriage! You ruined my life!
Knuckles: Oh, yeah. How ya doin'?
    [Charlie seethes]
  • Kids' Meal Toy: An In-Universe example; When Knuckles has lunch with Lady Walrus and her two children at Meh Burger, Stratford gets an action figure of Councilman McMeh with his Meh Meal. Knuckles fights over it with him, which upsets Lady Walrus, as she wanted a daughter who was more lady-like.
  • Last of His Kind: In one of the most heartbreaking moments in the entire show, Knuckles mentions this when Amy asks him to tell Team Sonic things about himself so that they can confirm his recovery from amnesia. This entire moment is complimented further by sad music as he blows a dandelion into the wind.
  • Mood Whiplash:
    • Knuckles talking about being the Last of His Kind is played rather seriously, and he's terribly depressed about it. His first attempt to find a family is pure comedy, as he goes door-to-door (at the same house) and gets increasingly desperate in his pleas.
    • In the end, Knuckles says he's learned who his real family is. He then says Charlie and Belinda, only that's not right and struggles to figure it out. Amy has to spell it out for him, and the team has a Group Hug.
  • More Deadly Than the Male: Charlie is simply content to enjoy seeing Knuckles miserable (and seethe over him being oblivious to them being enemies), but Belinda points out the benefit of turning a desperate guy with Super-Strength into a villain loyal to them. During the fight, she also observes that the rest of Team Sonic refuses to even try to hit Knuckles, so she tells Charlie to get behind him.
  • Mythology Gag: Knuckles mentions that he comes from...wait for it...Angel Island?
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: Charlie gets so frustrated with Knuckles being slow on the draw that he reveals he and Belinda are just using him for their own evil purposes. Knuckles proceeds to pummel him in response.
  • Self-Deprecation: As Tails describes Knuckles suffering from amnesia, Sonic points out this is a common occurrence on "hacky sitcoms" (much to the irritation of Tails, of course).
  • You Fool!: During the fight, Charlie to Knuckles over him so completely failing to grasp that he's being taken advantage of in all this.
