I'm a Hero Girl? Cure Sky to the Rescue! is the first episode of Hirogaru Sky! Pretty Cure, and the 919th episode overall of the Pretty Cure franchise.
Sora jumps into a mysterious tunnel after Princess Elle was kidnapped from the peaceful Sky Land. After exiting the portal, Sora meets Mashiro in Sorashido City.
Tropes:
- Action Prologue: The episode is extremely dense with action, even for this franchise. Kabaton kidnaps Elle the moment before the opening sequence plays. Witnessing this, Sora chases him endlessly to rescue her even if it means fighting Kabaton himself and his Ranborg. She ultimately succeeds in doing so after transforming into Cure Sky.
- Blue Is Heroic: Cure Sky is a hero decked out in a blue dress and hair. Notably, she is the first leader Cure to be blue, and only the third not to be a Pink Heroine (after Cure Summer and Cure Black).
- Heroic Resolve: Sora is beaten badly by the Ranborg. But she doesn't give up on trying to return Elle to her parents. She rises up, resolving to do the right thing to the very end.
- Kick the Dog: When Sora gets knocked down, Kabaton finds her journal and laughs at the drawings inside it, ripping them out, and telling her that she will never be a hero.
- Monster of the Week: Ranborg.
- One-Steve Limit: Zigzagged; while we get another Sora, Elle is one letter off from Ellen, and there has never been a Mashiro before.
- Pink Means Feminine: Cure Sky's pigtails are dip-dyed pink. This makes her the fifth blue Cure to have a hair colour other than blue, after Cure Spicy, Cure La Mer, Cure Beat, and Cure Windy. That said though, it is rather downplayed since Cure Sky overall is a Tomboy with a Girly Streak.
- Would Hurt a Child: Kabaton sees nothing wrong with kidnapping a small child.
