WHO TOOK THE NOTEBOOK!?!

Who took SMG3's Sussy Notebook? The meme guardian is on the warpath to find out: from the dim-witted Mario to his Friendly Rival SMG4, SMG3 does his darnedest to uncover the thief and deliver justice. But it's as the old saying goes: don't trust anyone. Because the culprit could be someone you'd least expect...

  • The Bad Guy Wins: Mario successfully retrieves the notebook for his unidentified master, and escapes custody after the SMGs uncover him.
  • Brick Joke: In an almost literal sense. A now-forklift-certified SMG4 uses his forklift to toss Luigi high into the sky. Eighty seconds later (real-time, hours in-universe) as he's trying to escape SMG3, Luigi finally falls back to earth and lands on him, allowing his capture.
  • Butt-Monkey: Luigi starts off getting shot in the face by SMG3 when the latter incorrectly believed Luigi had stolen his notebook. A few minutes later, just as he's recovering, SMG4 picks him up via forklift and chucks him into the stratosphere, after which he crashes down on top of SMG4 and is last left reeling, dazed.
  • Cliffhanger: Mario steals SMG3's secret notebook and arrives at a dark, creepy area to give it to a mysterious entity whom Mario refers to as his "king", and we learn that they were the one who put him up to it. Meanwhile, outside the castle in the rain stands a seething SMG3, and judging from the angry look on his face, it's on.
  • Crazy-Prepared: Knowing someone would try to steal his notebook, SMG3 put a lock on it.
  • Et Tu, Brute?: SMG3 is horrified and upset that Mario turned out to be the notebook thief, as he'd trusted him.
  • Faux Horrific: SMG3 tortures Mario by putting a plate of spaghetti on the table and threatening it with a drill. From Mario's reaction, you'd think SMG3 was threatening him with the drill, and by the time SMG3's reluctantly declared him innocent, the fat Italian is reduced to a sobbing, traumatized ball.
  • Foreshadowing: Two major clues allow us to identify the thief's identity before SMGs 3 and 4 do:
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus: When SMG3 views the backup footage of his livestream, it's at the part where he's finished playing Club Penguin and he announces to his viewers that, after a bathroom break, he's going to play Shrek Online, the setting of the episode from two weeks earlier. If you look closely, you can see the chat go wild.
  • Get Out!: In the form of a Big "NO!". During their Mexican Standoff, Meggy cameos and asks if she can join (holding her Splattershot), earning this response from Mario and both SMGs.
  • Just Following Orders: The ending reveals that Mario was ordered to swipe the notebook by a mysterious entity.
  • Stating the Simple Solution: SMG4 asks SMG3 if he can just check the footage of his stream to see if someone broke in and took his notebook. This is notably after the Mexican Standoff they and Mario had that went on for two hours.
  • Strange Minds Think Alike/Running Gag: The first alibi everyone comes up with is "playing Club Penguin", regardless of whether they're guilty or innocent.
  • Wham Episode: After spending most of the episode just being himself, Mario reveals he was the one who took SMG3's notebook, and he successfully escapes to hand-deliver it to a mysterious entity who ordered him to do so, implying he finally went rogue.
