Recap / SMG4 - Stupid Smash Bros

Go To

The Super Smash Bros. roster fights Mario... Only they're all stupid. Like, really stupid.

Mario gets his hands on a Smash Ball, but when Master Hand shows up demanding it back, he refuses to give it up. Determined to get it back by force, Master Hand sends fighter after fighter after the fat Italian. Will Mario manage to outwit every last one of them?

This blooper contains examples of:

  • Batman Grabs a Gun: Annoyed by all his Pokémon being completely ineffectual in battle, Pokémon Trainer just opts to pull out a minigun- by which point Mario has already run off.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Master Hand inflicts this on Luigi, Peach, Bowser and the other fighters to attack Mario. He tries it on Mario himself, but the man is too stupid to control.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle:
  • Deadly Dodging: Mario uses and exploits this to defeat several fighters. In order:
    • Luigi uses his Side-B, the Green Missile. Mario dodges and Luigi smashes into the door.
    • Bowser attacks with his shell and Mario jumps over, leading to Bowser and Peach (who Mario had also been fighting) taking each other out.
    • Link uses his sword like a helicopter rotor. Mario deflects him and Link is sent flying by his own momentum.
    • Mario throws Olimar and Game & Watch in the way of Ganondorf's Neutral-B, and they get punched off the stage.
    • Finally, Mario dodges Ganon's charge, while Master Hand... doesn't, and gets carried off the stage.
  • 11th-Hour Superpower: The Smash Ball finally recharges and Mario prepares to use it only for Ganondorf to steal it and use it instead.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Most of the fighters are beaten this way. Master Hand is also beaten this way - he sent the fighters to attack Mario for the Smash Ball, and he's done in when Mario tricks the rampaging Ganon (who used said Smash Ball) into attacking him.
  • Shown Their Work: Most of the moves and mechanics that are seen in the blooper, including Peach's turnip-pulling and Toad-shielding (Down-B and Neutral-B respectively), Fox's gun (his Neutral-B) and Olimar's Pikmin-throwing (his Neutral B) work the same way they do in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. It's lampshaded by the Pokemon Trainer's Pokemon, who actually state that only one of them can attack at a time.
    • That said, Mario blocks up Samus' cannon with a rock, Captain Falcon punches Kirby's throat while inside him causing the puffball to involuntarily vomit out everything he inhaled, and the Pokemon Trainer pulls out a minigun when he gets enraged. None of these can be done in Brawl.
  • Surrounded by Idiots: Master Hand lampshades this every time one of his fighters either does something stupid or fails to kill Mario.
  • Villain Song: Ganondorf bursts into song while fighting Mario - the song in question being "Mean Green Mother From Outer Space". He stops when Master Hand chastises him.
