After falling asleep during a horror movie, Adam wakes up to find that the Machine Empire have conquered the world and brainwashed everyone into living out horror movie roles. It’s up to Adam to recover the 4 items he needs to create a potion a wizard can use to restore the world to normal.

Development Gag Rita Repulsa was originally envisioned as being more Wicked Witch of the West-like in demeanor, including having a similar voice, but when Barbara Goodson tried it and was told it didn't sound angry enough, well, that's how we got the iconic voice. Here, she says a variant of the Witch’s famous line. - Deliberately Monochrome: Used as a nod to old horror films. Adam is aware everything suddenly became black-and-white.
- Enemy Mine: Rita and Zedd came to help the Rangers defeat the Machine Empire.
- Foreshadowing: The fact Adam has to have one of his friends battle a monster of the Machine Empire to get the spell cast is a blatant hint that the whole thing will turn out to be a trap.
- Frankenstein's Monster: Tanya is revealed to be the Mad Scientist's Bride-like creation.
- Halloween Episode: As usual, not actually on Halloween, but similarly themed.
