The one where... Misty has to find a cure for stun spore.

Tropes

  • A Day In The Lime Light: For Misty and her Pokemon, and to a lesser extent James and Meowth. The majority of the episode is spent showcasing their respective capabilities while the usual leading protagonist/antagonists have been knocked out of commission.
  • Badass Adorable: Poliwag, with Misty's help, laid the smackdown on Weezing.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: Poliwag helps Misty get the weed because she protected it from Team Rocket, and becomes her Pokemon as well.
  • Curbstomp Battle: Misty quite handily defeats Victreebel, Wheezing, and Meowth with her Goldeen, Staryu, and Psyduck. Meowth is clearly annoyed by Victreebel's performance especially, since as a grass type it should at least put up some fight.
Meowth: Why couldn't you train your Victreebel to battle, it looked LIKE A PUNCHING BAG OUT THERE!
  • Even Evil Has Standards: James and Meowth are a lot better at gratitude than Jessie, who thought Ash and Tracey recovering from illness was the perfect time to catch Pikachu.
  • Nice Girl: Misty, showing never-ending concern for her friends, Team Rocket, and a Poliwag.
  • Pet the Dog: James and Meowth are honestly touched by Misty's generosity, and drag Jessie away from battling Ash, calling it quits for the day.
  • Schmuck Banquet: Subverted. When Team Rocket tries to lure Misty into their booby traps with all kinds of goodies (see Skewed Priorities below), Misty doesn't take the bait - not because she realizes that it's a trap, but because she doesn't want to waste time helping Ash and Tracey.
  • Sick Episode: For Ash, Tracey and Jessie, after they all get afflicted with Stun Spore.
  • Skewed Priorities: Defied. Despite James and Meowth putting everything a girl could want in her path (nice food, dresses, and makeup), Misty ignores it to help Ash and Tracey.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: Misty gives some of the weed to James and Meowth, recognizing they were trying to help Jessie, and they do deserve a break.
    • Goldeen also gets a chance to actually win a battle, against James's grass type Victreebel no less. After exclusively suffering from the Worf Effect or simply flopping around uselessly, Goldeen finally proves that it can put up a fight.
  • A Twinkle in the Sky: Averted this time. James and Meowth pick up the defeated Jessie and Arbok, and run off.
Meowth: Thanks again! Uh, I mean, we're blasting off again!
    Ash: They keep getting weirder.
  • Ungrateful Bitch: Jessie shows nothing but contempt for James and Meowth despite trying to help her through her illness. Averted with James and Meowth, who don't have it in their hearts to attack Ash after Misty showed them generosity, and leave them alone for the time being.
James: I think what you really need, Jessie, is something that will cure a terminal case of ingratitude!
  • Wangst: In-universe. Jessie clearly exaggerates her illness, but still has the energy to assault James.
