Finally reaching Baltimare City, Flash and his friends decide to stop by Pinkie Pie's house before battling the city's Gym Leader.
- Adaptational Backstory Change: The canon Holder's Boulder is just a regular boulder that Holder Cobblestone found and memorialized when he first built the farm. In this series, the boulder was formed in a battle between Regirock, Terrakion, and Diancie, specifically when their final attacks collided with each other.
- Adaptational Personality Change:
- Downplayed with Maud Pie. While still relatively stoic, she does show more instances of emotion than she does in the canon show.
- Pinkie's parents don't speak in the same sophisticated manner shown in the canon show.
- Adaptation Relationship Overhaul: Gummy was Pinkie's pet in canon and was apparently fairly new, since she celebrated his first birthday towards the end of Season 1. Here though, Pinkie first met him while living with her family, with him being the one to bring her joy for the first time instead of the Sonic Rainboom.
- All Animals Are Dogs: A young Pinkie first met Gummy when he returned a rock she threw into a pond, like a dog playing fetch.
- Attack Hello: A flashback showing how Pinkie and Gummy first met has Gummy shooting her in the face with Water Gun. This caused her hair to gain its usual poofy appearance, and made Pinkie laugh out loud when she saw herself.
- Balloonacy: Big Score and his thieves steal Holder's Boulder by lifting it in a net from a hot air balloon.
- The Bus Came Back: Big Score, Rickashay, and Boulder show up again as antagonists who want to steal Holder's Boulder and use its attractive energy to lure in Rock-type Pokémon to steal.
- Clothing Reflects Personality: The entire Pie family sans Pinkie wear gray, muted clothing, contrasting with Baltimare City's colorful appearance and, ironically, highlighting their eccentricities from the rest of the city.
- Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: Pinkie's seemingly normal sister, Maud Pie, is actually the Gym Leader of Baltimare City.
- The Ghost: Lightning Blitz is mentioned, having used his Sharazor to sweep Maud's entire team a few days ago, but he makes no appearance himself.
- A Twinkle in the Sky: As all of the Pokémon attack the three criminals, they are sent off and disappear into the horizon
- Underestimating Badassery: Maud claims she made her Gym to show everyone Rock-Types aren't as weak as most people think they are, and she has succeeded in this, claiming that many trainers have come to her Gym expecting an easy win only to run off crying in defeat.
- The Worf Effect: Big Score, Rickashay, and Boulder getting beaten by Maud shows her power as a Gym Leader and foreshadows the challenge Flash will have to face in the upcoming Gym battle.
