Recap / Pokémon EC 35 Equestria's Harmony

Go To

With Shining Armor too injuried to lead everyone properly after Sombra's terrifying transformation, it all falls on Flash to lead everyone now. Can Pegasoar's chosen one save Equestria from Sombra's regin of destruction and lead its forces to victory?

  • Achilles' Heel: It is discovered that the Crystal Heart is this for Sombra's titan form. If the heart is struck by the Shadow Spear it will break again, and the titan will lose power and return back to normal. The problem is actually getting the spear to hit it.
  • Avengers Assemble: When Flash sends out his message to everyone in Equestria urging them to come to the Crystal Empire and help him and his friends stop Sombra together we see a few people answering the call and heading out to join him. This includes Rainbow and Fluttershy, Applejack and Rarity, Pinkie, Trixie, The Dazzlings, Cloud Clipper, Timber, Soarin, Hopper and the residents of the Dragon Kingdom, and even Lightning Blitz.
  • Bear Hug: As Flash is saying goodbye to all his friends before they head back through the transporter, Pinkie gives him a majorly tight hug.
  • Big "SHUT UP!": When everyone else is too busy arguing over what to do next against Sombra's titan form and yelling over each other, Flash takes charge of the situation and gets their attention yelling "Everybody...STOP!"
  • The Bus Came Back:
    • Some of the trainers that arrive as part of The Cavalry are minor chaarcters that have only apperared once or twice in the past, like Micro Chips, Sandalwood, Spark Plug, Shady Forest, Fancy Pants, Fleur, Ceder, Zecora, Strongheart, and her father.
    • Hopper makes his return to help Flash, as well as the other residents of the Dragon Kingdom, including Drayce, Ryu, and Kaida.
  • The Cavalry: An entire army of trainers from across Equestria come to help Flash and the others against Sombra. It ranges from supporting characters they have encountered multiple times before to others they have only met once and some they have never met before but came anyway.
  • Disc-One Final Boss: This chapter marks the end of Sombra and Team Shadow, the Big Bad of the whole series up to this point. That just leaves the Equestria League, and Lightning Blitz as the sole antagonist standing in Flash's way.
  • Dismantled MacGuffin: This happens to the Crystal Heart again. After it is broken in half again during the battle to defeat Sombra, it is decided it is best to keep the two fragments separated, with one fragment and the Shadow Spear being kept in the Crystal Empire, and the other fragment being kept in a museum on the other side of Equestria.
  • The Glomp: After Sombra is defeated, Twilight runs toward Flash and jumps at him in celebration, with the two embracing in a hug as Flash falls into the snow.
  • Gondor Calls for Aid: Flash realizes what Shining Armor was trying to say earlier; that Sombra has become so strong he can defeat anyone, but he can't defeat everyone. So, Flash sends out a message to all of Equestria, explaining the situation to them and urging them to come help him and his friends by explaining how instructions have been sent to every Pokémon Center in the region on how to convert their transports into teleporters to bring them to the Crystal Empire.
  • History Repeats: The Shadow Spear was used by Sombra's ancestors to break the Crystal Heart in half a thousand years ago, and Flash manages to use it on the Crystal Heart again to once again break it in half and defeat Sombra.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Flash uses the same equipment Sombra used to broadcast their battle to send out his own message and gather an army of trainers against Sombra.
  • Insult of Endearment: Cadance explains to Flash how Shining Armor calling someone a "loser" means they are "someone who hates to lose" rather than being an insult. So, Shining Armor saying that Flash is "just as big a loser as he was at his age" is actually a big complement.
  • Pragmatic Villainy: Lightning is more of a jerk than a villain like Team Shadow, but when he is questioned if he is going to ty to capture Alicormony and Dischaos, Lightning says normally he would, since they "deserve" to be trained by him, but he decides against it because with so many other people around who wouldn't approve and would get in his way he decides it isn't worth the effort.
  • Rookie Red Ranger: Flash is forced into position as leader when Shining Armor gets injured, needing to make a plan and lead everyone else against Sombra, which includes Celestia, Luna, Grand Hoof, the Gym Leaders, and everyone else that shows up to help.
  • Shout-Out: Cadance tells Flash "That's all it is Flash. A leap of faith." while helping him through his doubts.
  • Smooch of Victory: Downplayed example, but at the end of the chapter Rarity gives Flash a friendly kiss on the cheek before leaving after he defeated Sombra.
  • Taking the Bullet: A non-lethal example, but during the climactic battle when Flash has to use the Shadow Spear to break the Crystal Heart, Pegasoar flies him and Springer up closer to Sombra while dodging his attacks. At one point, as they get closer to it, the heart shoots a beam of energy at them, and Pegasoar bucks Flash and Springer off him to get them out of harm's way, while taking the hit himself and crashing to the ground.
  • Villainous Breakdown: Sombra continues his from the previous chapter. As he is transported away with the rest of his team to be imprisoned and await their trial, he raves like a mad man declaring his dream will never be stopped and he will have his revenge.
  • Wham Episode: Team Shadow is finally defeated!
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: Flash feels the pressure of needing to lead everyone at first, wondering if Pegasoar made a mistake choosing him, and wondering how he is supposed to know he's ready to lead everyone in Shining's place. Cadance helps him through this, explaining that he can't know if he's ready, just like how Shining doubted he could be a good champion at first. She also tells him how Shining once said how Flash was "just as big a loser as he was at his age", explaining how "loser" is an Insult of Endearment from Shining.
  • You Are in Command Now: With Shining Armor hurt from saving Flash at the end of the previous chapter and unable to lead everyone properly, he tells Flash it is up to him to lead everyone now, saying since Pegasoar chose him that makes him the best candidate.
  • Zerg Rush: As Flash realizes, Sombra has become so strong he can beat anyone, but he can't beat everyone at once. This leads to every trainer ganging up and attacking Sombra. Though this does manage to keep him at bay for awhile, he can ultimately only be beaten by breaking the Crystal Heart with the Shadow Spear.
