Recap / PK 2 S 2 E 9 Degrees Of Separation

Go To

A mysterious item soars through the galaxy, seeking for someone on behalf of planet Corona. When said item crashes in an antarctic base belonging to Ducklair Enterprises, Everett himself, along with Angus and Lyla, heads for the base, apparently worried about the significance of this item. Sensing that her father is in danger, Juniper Ducklair persuades PK to reach his father in Antarctica and help him out.

This Issue contains examples of:

  • Adaptive Ability: The Core Cells of the Coronian drone can adapt to their surroundings and merge with them. When left out in the snow, they make themselves a giant body made of ice.
  • Ambition Is Evil: Argale Cardaxis is already one of the greatest minds in the world and a Nobel prize nominee. The enigma behind the alien device and Everett's orders to keep it secret apparently are enough to drive him to betray and nearly put everyone's lives in jeopardy by releasing the cells.
  • Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: The core cells from the alien device form a huge spider-like construct made of ice.
  • Call-Back: Before going to Anctarctica, Paperinik asks Juniper to procure him the rocket fuel needed for the Pi-Kar, which was important in volume 3.
  • Easily Forgiven: Despite everything, Everett holds no grudge against Argale and claims he's more than willing to forgive him once he comes back to his senses.
  • Dynamic Entry: Accidental, though PK barges into the scene by crashing through the giant ice creature with the Pi-Kar
  • Foreshadowing: Planet Corona and Everett's worrying will become much more important later on.
  • The Glomp: Juniper hugs Paperinik when they meet each other. PK doesn't look much enthusiastic about it.
  • Giant Spider: The cells use the surrounding ice to transform into a colossal construct shaped like a six-legged spider with a duck-like beak which can apparently open in a Petal Mouth.
  • Grudging "Thank You": As usual, Everett sees PK with disdain and mistrust. However, he does sincerely say thank you when the hero saves him from the ice monster.
  • Hypno Fool: Juniper uses her psychic powers to control Morrighan and make him do some dangerous stunts to amuse her and attract PK's attention.
  • An Ice Person: The Coronian's drone cells merge with the snow of the Anctarctica to form a giant icy spider monster.
  • Mysterious Antarctica: Where else could a mysterious alien drone device crash?
  • Oh, Crap!: Everett is shocked to see the device found in his base, knowing very well what this means...
  • Psychic Link: Juniper is able to tell when her father is in danger, and reacts accordingly by asking PK to go and help him. Everett himself notices that her powers have grown.
  • Sanity Slippage: Argale looks like a professional if very nerdy scientist. His odd obsession with the alien technology leads to him turning on his very colleagues and benefactor.
  • The Stinger: Somewhere in Space, Corona took notice of the cells' disappearence and is preparing to investigate the matter.
  • Weaksauce Weakness: Realizing the absimilation ability of the cells, Argale prepares a gun loaded with a solution that shuts down this function. Everett later uses it to take down the spider.
