Recap / One Hundred And One Dalmatian Street S 1 E 45 Better The De Vil You Know

Go To

Hunter is on a mission to get Cruella's fur coat.

This episode features examples of:

  • Blatant Lies: Upon Delilah's discovery of Doug's Overworked Sleep and Dylan standing guard, Dylan jumps in and says that he and his step-father decided to sleep in shifts, to cover for his vigilant stance.
  • Bound and Gagged: Hunter does this to the Bus Driver.
  • Captain Oblivious: Dizzy & Dee-Dee are this, not fully understanding the threat that the de Vils are to the Dalmatian Family, the two see Hunter like some type of funny goofball.
  • Chekhov's Boomerang: Hunter having numerous episodes of Delusions of Doghood, which Dylan is able to use to rescue the other Dalmatians, during the climax of the Episode.
  • Deadly Delivery: Hunter attempts this twice. Once by just knocking on the door, thinking the Dalmatians shall assume he is the post man, the second time disguised as a bag of kibble.
  • Diminishing Villain Threat: An in-universe plot point, Hunter's Sanity Slippage results in him becoming significantly less competent at stealing the puppies, resulting in the pups ceasing to take him seriously and Cruella herself having to step in personally.
  • Exhausted Eye Bags: As he spends more and more time patrolling the house and making sure Hunter does not take him or his siblings, Dylan starts sporting these.
  • Headphones Equal Isolation: The Bus Driver does not hear Hunter's plan to take control of the Bus, or his maniacal laughing, since he's wearing headphones.
  • I Just Want to Be Loved: Hunter's dialogue suggests he is trying to capture the Dalmatians, solely to get his Great-Aunt, Cruella, to notice him.
  • Immediate Sequel: Based on Delilah's dialogue, the Episode begins on the same day as "Dante's Inferno", with a brief flashback to the previous Episode.
  • Jaw Drop: The pups reaction to Dylan "taming" Hunter.
  • Knight of Cerebus: Cruella, when she arrives.
  • Lockdown: The Dalmatian House goes in to this, in response to Hunter's return.
  • Logical Weakness: The Dalmatian Family use Diesel's strong sense of smell to detect whenever Hunter is close. Hunter is able to get around this by wearing a Hazmat suit to cover his scent!
  • My Greatest Failure: Dylan feels a lot of guilt for what happened during the events of "London, We Have a Problem", with him trying to make amends for that being his drive during this Episode.
  • Post-Victory Collapse: Dylan spends the whole episode sleep-deprived, and after making Hunter fetch the chew toy, he runs with everyone else inside the house, where he finally collapses and falls asleep.
  • Puppy-Dog Eyes: Dorothy employs this on Hunter, to no avail, until Dylan runs over and rescues her by throwing a chew toy at him.
  • Sleep Deprivation: Happens to Dylan in his vigilance. Dolly asks him when the last time he slept was at one point.
  • So Proud of You: Dolly gives a variation to Dylan after escaping from Hunter (and telling him she'll only say it once) saying what he did was totally awesome, then after realizing he passed out she smiles tenderly at him.
  • Suddenly Shouting: Cruella, when Hunter admits to her that he has yet been unable to capture the Dalmatians.
  • The Un Favourite: Hunter is this to Cruella. Hunter was locked in the Cargo Container for Six Months and not only did Cruella not call him once, but did not even notice he was gone!
  • Wham Episode: Cruella arrives in person in this Episode.
