- "Bang!" Flag Gun: Doc Skullovitch accidentally brought these to a robbery.
- Call-Forward: The White Stranger's hat has a green stripe to it, perhaps as a historical foreshadowing to Tommy's tenure as the Green Ranger.
- Cowboy Episode: Kimberly is sent back to 1880 during Angel Grove's Wild West era.
- Generation Xerox: Original Ranger Billy's ancestor was friends with the ancestors of Rocky, Aisha, and Adam (the replacement Rangers).
- Harmless Villains: One-Eyed Bulk and Doc Skullovitch are lousy bandits, which is probably why they're not hanged.
- Identical Grandson: All members of the main cast seem to qualify here, due to all of them

- Plant Person: Needlenose is a cactus monster with a really lame Mexican accent.
- Politically Correct History: Kimberly goes back in time, wearing almost nothing (although THIS is lampshaded as men can be seen leering at her), with what would be considered a boy's haircut in the 1880s, and finds people who look exactly like her friends, who include a black woman, an Asian and a hispanic. Naturally, nothing is ever said about all these people just walking around.
- More justified than you think, the old West had many Fleeing slaves and Asian immigrants, and much of it used to be Mexico. Rocko himself in Part II mentions he took self-defense “south of the border”.
- San Dimas Time: Discussed in-universe. Aisha assumes since the present hasn't chanced after Goldar and Needlenose went through the timehole, Kimberly must have stopped them. But Billy specifically states at one point "It's a paradox. Our world won't change until Kimberly battles the monster in her time", implying the two timelines had become synchronized, likely the result of the opened timehole.
- Swirly Energy Thingy: The timehole Kimberly accidentally got sucked into.
