Recap / Middlemost Post S 1 E 9 Dogs Best Friend Out Of Shape

Go To

Dog's Best Friend: Angus tries to woo the only dog on the mountain that doesn't like him: Jelly.

"Dog's Best Friend" provides examples of:

  • Flashback Cut: How Jelly ended up hating Angus is because she overheard him say that "jelly is the worst" despite having a debate over jelly and jam, and not Jelly herself.
  • Mailman vs. Dog: Although almost every dog in Mt. Middlemost are fond of Angus, the only dog that hates Angus is Jelly, Mrs. Pam's pet pug. The entire episode revolves around Angus trying to find ways for Jelly to like him.
  • Medium-Shift Gag: One scene where Angus dressed as a dog tried to kiss Jelly, much to his disgust.
  • Rule of Three: As part of Angus' tattoo gag, in order to win over a dog, you must follow three steps: find where they like to be scratched, scratch that spot, repeat until dog kicks leg. As Parker points out, this process works on Russell, since she functions similarly to a dog.
  • "Shaggy Dog" Story: A literal one, where it looks like Angus and Jelly are finally cool with each other, but it turns out Jelly just peed on Angus. So yes, Jelly still hates Angus and a later episode shows that she's still hostile towards him.
  • Urine Trouble: The episode ends with Jelly peeing on Angus's shoes.

Out of Shape: Parker becomes overly obsessed with a game to the point where the little nimbus isn't a cloud anymore.

"Out of Shape" provides examples of:

  • Fartillery: The last phase (gas) of getting Parker back in shape, of course, involved flatulence.
  • Group Hug: One such moment at the end caused Parker to be back in shape.
  • Lazy Bum: After getting a day off from work loafing on the couch, Parker becomes one,
  • Overly Long Gag: Parker struggling to move after becoming out of shape.
  • Rule of Three: During the crew meeting, the Middlemost Post gang intends to fix Burt's leg after a ski accident, stop drinking from the toilet, and one person per bubble bath.
  • Science Hero: Lily saved the day by turning Parker back to normal with the power of science by going through the four (and eventually five) phases of matter.
  • Squashed Flat: Parker becomes frozen solid while being squashed flat as well.
  • The End
  • Weight Woe: A now out of shape Parker is depressed about their weight after wasting a day off doing nothing on the couch.
