Dr. Emilia's determination runs deep - and gets dark. Scarlemagne and Wolf set out to end her, and Song reveals a secret. Let's get the party started!

Tropes:

  • Abusive Parent:
    • Before the release of Season 3, Word of God said that Hugo/Scarlemagne was created by cloning DNA from a mandrill fossil. Now we learn that the one that pulled it off is no other than Dr. Emilia herself, making her technically his "mother". And we all know how she turned out...
    • Dr. Emilia's father was very cold towards her and her brother, setting high expectations for them and putting the plan for human domination of Mutes and the surface before all else. Emilia took this lesson to heart, but her brother Liam eventually grew to wish for peace between humans and Mutes.
  • Bait the Dog: The opening of the series is a flashback of Emilia telling her father to not be so hard on her brother, and then affectionately smiling at him. We later find out that she killed her brother for befriending Mutes.
  • Call-Back: Wolf still carries the air freshener bottle she had early in Season 1. She uses it to mask Scarlemagne’s scent so Kipo won’t track him down and stop him from getting to Emilia.
  • Cain and Abel: Song reveals that Emilia murdered her brother Liam for befriending Mutes and questioning their father's teachings.
Liam: What if everything we've been taught is wrong? I'm gonna show people what Mutes are really like! This will change everything!
Song: (voiceover) Emilia knew that if Liam made it back to the Burrow, it would undo everything she and her father had worked for.
(Emilia aims her crossbow at Liam, who gasps in shock)
Emilia: I can't let you do that.
  • Disappointed in You: Spoken by Dr. Emilia (with a tone of sarcasm) to Hoag after he wises up and reveals Emilia's plan to the party.
  • Dumbass Has a Point: Greta points out that Wolf continuing to hide her humanity by wearing her wolf skin means that deep down she doesn't really believe Kipo can pull off peace between humans and mutes, which makes Wolf realize if she and Scarlemagne kill Dr. Emilia while the humans are at Prahm, they will think Kipo's plan was a trap and peace really will become impossible.
  • Freudian Excuse: When she was young, Dr. Emilia's father instilled her Fantastic Racism against the Mutes.
  • Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse: But this is still not an excuse to kill your own brother for befriending the Mutes and ruining her and her father efforts, and not admitting to being in the wrong.
  • Good Costume Switch: Wolf abandons her pelt after Greta points out how wearing it contradicts Wolf's support of Kipo's cause. After changing into her Prahm outfit, she is never again seen wearing the pelt.
  • Grumpy Old Man: Janitor Bob hates picking up trash all day. Because of this, he is not eager to talk about trash with Label.
  • Heel Realization:
    • Back in his palace, Scarlemagne realizes how his thirst for power blinded him from making the right choices that would have given him a better life, like stopping Emilia himself, helping Song when she was a Mega Monkey, forgiving Lio for abandoning him, or growing up with Kipo.
    • Wolf has a minor one when she realizes that wearing a wolf's pelt is preventing her from fully embracing Kipo's cause and moving on from her own traumas.
    • Hoag has one near the end after realizing the mutes are not a threat to his daughter and reveals that Dr. Emilia's fireworks are in fact laced with the cure.
  • Loophole Abuse: When Wolf catches Scarlemagne trying to mind control Greta despite promising Kipo that he wouldn't, the mandrill counters that he didn't know if it meant forever.
  • Murder Is the Best Solution: Deconstructed; After Greta makes an insightful comment towards Wolf’s mindset, Wolf realizes that if she and Scarlemagne kill Emilia while all the humans are gathered at P.R.A.H.M., it will unravel the trust between humans and mutes Kipo has been trying to build up, and nothing but more conflict would arise from both groups.
  • Secret-Keeper: Invoked with Song. She admits that Dr. Emilia would confess her darkest secrets to Song when she was in her Mega Monkey form, confident that she wouldn't be able to tell anyone.
  • She Cleans Up Nicely: For the Prahm, Kipo wears a beautiful dress.
  • Sibling Murder: Dr. Emilia kills her own brother just because he made friends with some mutes.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: Emilia's brother only appears in Song's flashback, but it's him fraternizing with the Rats that they decide to create a safe haven for Mutes and humans.
  • Use Your Head: Greta is strong enough to headbutt Scarlemagne to the ground.
  • "Well Done, Son" Guy: At the end of the day, everything Dr. Emilia wanted was to make her father proud of her, but the only thing he cared about was restoring humanity to power. Things get a dark turn when she murders her brother for questioning her father’s teaching, befriending the Mutes, and trying to spread a vision of peace between Mutes and humans to the rest of their burrow.
