Eve: God, I'm tired. Aren't you tired?
Villanelle A little, yeah.

As Villanelle takes a hostage as a bargaining chip, Eve learns more about the larger conspiracy and remains determined to track down Villanelle.

Tropes in this episode:

  • Almost Kiss: Villanelle comes close to kissing Eve on the bed but stops when she feels a knife pressed against her stomach.
  • Ambiguous Situation: Is Eve genuinely considering having an affair with Villanelle, until she changes her mind and stabs her instead? Or is she merely faking to reciprocate Villanelle's feelings for her, so that Villanelle would let her guard down?
  • Badass Creed: "Language is information, and information is everything." Villanelle and Irina both recite it rote, making it clear it's something Konstantin drilled into both of them.
  • Dialogue Reversal: Sorry baby.
  • Driven to Suicide: Anna lacks the will to kill Villanelle, and doesn't want to let Villanelle kill her, and so she shoots herself instead.
  • Gaining the Will to Kill: Eve finally works up the nerve to stab Villanellle and regrets it almost immediately.
  • Lima Syndrome: Villanelle comes to like Irina. But—given this is Villanelle—calling it "empathy for her captive" is a bit of stretch.
  • Lodged Blade Removal: After stabbing her, Villanelle tells Eve not to pull the knife out but she does anyway. Effectively making her injury worst.
  • Manly Tears: Konstantin tears up when he talks about his daughter, who he loves dearly and who has just been kidnapped.
  • Mood Whiplash: The final scene. It goes from Almost Kiss to Gaining the Will to Kill to My God, What Have I Done?, all within moments.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Eve's reaction after stabbing Villanelle in her apartment. She is traumatized by it.
  • Parental Favoritism: When pressed to it, Konstantin says that—of his daughter Irina and his Like a Daughter to Me Villanelle—Villanelle is his favorite, "little bit." However, Irina is not The Un Favourite—Konstantin still unquestionably loves her fiercely. Also it’s questionable how truthful this statement was, considering Villanelle had him (and Irina) at gunpoint when he said it.
  • Phrase Catcher: Everyone who meets Irina agrees, "She is really annoying."
  • Scare Chord: Eve stabbing Villanelle is accompanied by a high-pitched screech in the soundtrack.
  • Season Finale
  • Speak in Unison:
Irina: Did you two used to go out?
Villanelle & Anna: She seduced me. [Both look at each other and scoff.]
  • Too Much Information: Villanelle's confession to Eve.
Villanelle: I mean, I masturbate about you a lot.
    Eve: Okay, that's—.
    Villanelle: Too much?
Eve: No, it's just— I wasn't expecting that.
  • You Wouldn't Shoot Me: Twice, in contrasting scenes, one with Anna and one with Eve
    • Villanelle claims Anna can't do it. She's right.
Villanelle: [to Irina] This is an example of someone who thinks they can shoot a gun but they can't. You're safe.
    • Villanelle claims Eve can't do it. She's wrong, and Eve does. It's Zigzagged though—Eve instantly regrets it, but still, she did do it, and there's a lot of meaning in that.
      Villanelle: You can't.
Eve: I can. [stabs] I can!
