"In a way, I defeated myself."

Everyone gathers for the sharing circle, with the question being how they all died.

  • Actually Pretty Funny: When trying to humiliate Cell and establish himself as dominant, Freeza asks Cell which of his genetic sources was a bug man that smells like patchouli. Cell's answer, "Probably Vegeta," actually gets a few chuckles out of the former galactic tyrant.
  • Armor-Piercing Question: Cell gives one after he hints to Freeza that he knows how he really died, which Freeza had been purposefully vague about during the Sharing Circle.
Cell: You know, while we’re on the subject, what planet did you die on again? I don’t remember. Was it Namek, or Earth?
  • Brick Joke: In the beginning, Raditz is filling water jugs, and before they leave for the sharing circle he says he has to feed Guru. In The Stinger, we see Guru drinking from one of the bottles like a hamster.
  • Butt-Monkey: Raditz can't catch a break. As shown in a flashback, he didn't make it far on Snake Way before falling off, he's been used as a giant stretchy toy by Freeza and his men in another, and Cell laughs at him when he admits to being killed by Piccolo.
  • Continuity Nod: Raditz says that after he died he gave King Yemma a Groin Attack, something that Yemma himself mentioned when he first met Goku.
  • Delayed "Oh, Crap!": This is Freeza’s reaction when Cell subtly hints to him that he knows exactly how he died.
Freeza: Literally felled by a whelp. And Goku’s, no less! Yet you seem so adorably proud of yourself.
Cell: “Proud”? No. (chuckles) But I’m not gonna act all insecure about it. What kind of loser would that make me?
    Goz: An infinite one?
    Cell: (points at him) Mmhm!
Freeza: I’m sorry, is that an insinuation?
Cell: Oh, no, no, no, I’m not trying to cut you to pieces in front of anyone, or anything.
Freeza: Hmph. A wise decisi- (realizes what Cell just said with a horrified face)
  • The Ghost: Super Kami Guru doesn't show up in the episode itself, only making a brief appearance in The Stinger. When it's his turn in the sharing circle, the ogres contact him by the radio.
Guru: New Nail! The box is talking again!
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: The whole argument between Freeza and Cell at the end on how unoriginal Cell is compared to Freeza could be easily interpreted as fans of both villains arguing over which one is better. It can also be an allusion to how some aspects of Cell were done so that he'd adopt aspects of Freeza at the requests of Akira Toriyama's editors.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: Freeza and Cell are the only villains privy to the precise details of how Freeza perished. Freeza skirts around the subject when asked, but Cell drops increasing hints that he knows who killed Freeza (beyond "the Super Saiyan"), how he was killed, and which specific planet his death happened on (which Freeza merely refers to as "the planet I deemed to conquer," for the sake of pride).
  • Running Gag: Goz says something in German/an abbreviation, Mez translates, and Cell says "Then just say that."
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome:
    • Remembering he can regrow lost limbs, Cell tries to cut off the leg with the ki suppressor with a pair of gardening shears. As it turns out, Goz and Mez are not stupid enough to give them the tools to break out that easily.
    • After Goku easily broke out the last time, the escape route has been boarded up.
    • The reason why Raditz seems so subdued and no one is trying to escape? The ki suppressors are tracking devices and even if they did escape Hell, there's nowhere to go. Raditz alone tried to escape for years and got nowhere as a result, so he knows that the only way out is through the Ogres' therapy sessions.
  • That Came Out Wrong: Zarbon has realized his use of Innocent Innuendos at some point, and despite his efforts can't seem to stop himself from saying them.
Zarbon: I thought I could take him, but he really tore up my insides and— I, no! I mean, he blew out my backside— gah! Dammit!
Dodoria: It's fine, you're catchin' it now.
Zarbon: But I'm so used to pitching. (sobs) Noooooo!
  • Understatement: Guru associates his death (which was him being Eaten Alive by angry Namekians for causing a genocide) as "Cancel Culture".
