Recap / Facing The Future Series Episode 13 Ancient History

Go To

When the literal ghosts of Tucker's two biggest mistakes come back to haunt him, namely Hotep-Ra and his former ghost half, Team Phantom is forced to deal with a return to the past as the two ghosts take Amity Park back to Egyptian times. Can Tucker comes to grips with his mistakes and find the strength to save the day?

Tropes appearing in this story:

  • As You Know: While "Memory Blank" hinted that Danny and Tucker had told Sam about their first encounter with Desiree back when she was sick, this story confirms they had told her the entire story...including the fact that Tucker had been given ghost powers.
  • Call-Back:
    • When Hotep-Ra approaches Ghost Tucker, he comments "I have a minion? Who will hear and obey?", the very same lines Tucker used when Hotep-Ra was deceiving him.
    • The ending scene where Hotep-Ra and Ghost Tucker and Swallowed Whole by the Tucker-faced sphinx is quite similar to the ending of "The Million Dollar Ghost" where Vlad was swallowed by the Behemoth.
  • Dangerous Device Disposal Debacle: At the end of "King Tuck", Danny returned the Scarab Scepter to the museum, which this story shows to have been a mistake, as it meant Hotep-Ra could easily steal it again. The mummy ghost even points out how foolish it was to leave such a powerful object unprotected.
  • De-power: Despite the fact that Tucker was almost unstoppable back when he had ghost powers, his ghost self has become a fraction of its former self. Danny figures that it was Exact Words with Desiree's spell to "transform Tucker into the most powerful ghost boy in the world", as it referred to being a half-ghost, and when Danny used the Ghost Catcher to separate Tucker from his ghost half, it broke the spell and weakened him.
  • Double-Meaning Title: The story title can appropriately refer to either Amity Park being transformed into an Egyptian kingdom or Tucker dealing with his past mistakes in "What You Want" and "King Tuck".
  • Foreshadowing: When Hotep-Ra confronts Tucker near the beginning of the story, Tucker makes a mention on how he was the only one who could use the Scarab Scepter. A few scenes later, we're shown that there's actually one other being that can wield it, namely Tucker's former ghost half.
  • Hypocrite: Upon learning that Sam is now half-ghost, Ghost Tucker accuses Danny of Double Standard, claiming that when he jumped on the bandwagon, he got kicked to the curb, but when Sam got powers, she was handed a position on the team no questions asked.
Danny: First of all, there was nothing 'no questions asked' about it! And second, since when did you care about a spot on the team?! All you ever cared about was taking everything for yourself!
  • Oh, No... Not Again!: While not said outloud, Danny, Sam, and Tucker's Oh, Crap! moment when they realized what would happen when Ghost Tucker got the Scarab Scepter screams this.
  • Sequel Episode: One to both "What You Want" and "King Tuck", with it giving Tucker closure for both incidents.
  • Villain Team-Up: Between Ghost Tucker and Hotep-Ra, as Hotep-Ra realizes Ghost Tucker is the only other being who can use King Duulaman's Scarab Scepter.
  • You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!: Tucker does not react well to the fact that his two biggest past screw ups have returned.
