- Claustrophobia: Garrett's fear.
- Face Your Fears: Garrett faces his claustrophobia and wins. He tries to get the Ghostbusters to do it too but they fail. Although Garrett succeeds in facing his own fears, it doesn't mean the others can do the same since they don't exactly have his brand of courage. They could but it might take some time which they don't have. It also doesn't help that unlike Garrett, their fears are depicted as physical entities that can do direct harm and won't give them time to try.
- Mechanical Abomination: Roland's fear is his equipment falling apart. So, the Fear Itself ghost transforms his proton pack into a machine/insect hybrid.
- Mortality Phobia: Eduardo's fear is the fear of death which is ironic since his Signature Line is "Maybe he's dead."
- Non-Malicious Monster: The Fear Itself ghost doesn't mean to do harm to the Ghostbusters; it just wants to protect its home. When they find it, they learn it's actually utterly terrified of them. They ultimately decide not to bust it.
- Opponent Switch: Since they can't face their fears, the Ghostbusters decide to switch dance partners. Garrett takes on Roland's Proton Pack monster, Kylie blasts Zombie Eduardo to atoms, and Eduardo decides to fight the giant maggot. Roland takes care of Slimer’s fear of broccoli by covering up the platter.
- Screaming Woman: When Eduardo advises Kylie to scream to get help, Kylie responds that she's not a screamer. Scenes later, that statement is basically false much to her dismay.
- Too Spicy for Yog-Sothoth: Slimer is a Big Eater, but is terrified of eating broccoli.
- Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Kylie's fear is of maggots.
