Tropes

  • 11th-Hour Superpower: Maya gets a new superhero costume and echoes the gifts of her past ancestors. She has healing powers and is able to share her powers with her family.
  • All Part of the Show: Zane's rocket misfires into the air when Henry shoots him, causing the announcer to remark that the fireworks must have started early.
  • Amazon Brigade: Maya's ancestors appear around her, empowering her to take on all of Fisk's goons. They also form a physical brigade by granting Maya's grandmother and cousin super-strength to help in the fight.
  • Badass Driver: Biscuits drives a monster truck over the two vans belonging to Fisk’s minions.
  • Break the Badass: Kingpin, the powerful crime lord who regularly tangled with Daredevil and knocked Kate Bishop around, is left whimpering like a terrified child when forced to relive his childhood trauma by way of Maya entering his mind. His freak out is so bad that he almost immediately beats a hasty retreat rather than fight Maya, though he mostly manages to recompose himself by the time he's boarded his plane.
  • Continuity Nod: When Maya traps Fisk in a memory, the two of them end up back in the night his father was murdered. He's also briefly seen standing in his apartment, admiring "Rabbit in a Snowstorm".
  • I Choose to Stay: Maya decides to stay in Tamaha with her family.
  • I Have Your Wife: Kingpin threatens Maya's grandmother and cousin, telling Maya that he's glad to know how much pain killing them will cause her.
  • Journey to the Center of the Mind: Maya attempts to “heal” Fisk’s pain and rage by going into his head and forcing him to relive the moment he killed his father. Fisk ultimately rejects Maya's attempt to heal him, but the experience reduces him to confused blubbering at her feet. He then escapes with his henchmen before the police arrive without any further attempts at violence.
  • Oh, Crap!:
    • Maya when she realizes Chula and Bonnie are in danger.
    • Also Zane, when he sees Henry targeting him with a silenced gun while preparing to launch the rocket.
      Zane: Wait, what?
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: After Maya "heals" him, Fisk suffers a freak out so bad that he pulled a Screw This, I'm Outta Here without any further attempts at violence.
  • Redemption Rejection: Maya offers Fisk the opportunity to let go of the pain inside of him by choosing not to kill his father, but he refuses her.
  • Sequel Hook: The Stinger implies that Kingpin will run for mayor of New York City to further build up his power. This isn't a sequel hook for Echo itself, per se, since Maya cuts ties with Fisk for good here, but will likely be explored further in Daredevil: Born Again.
  • The Stinger: Kingpin watches the news on his private jet's TV and sees that there’s an opening for the New York City Mayoral election.
  • Villainous Breakdown: Fisk breaks down and yells at Maya after she “heals” him.
  • Waif-Fu: Bonnie is 5’2" and easily takes down multiple Fisk goons after being gifted Maya's powers.
