Jack follows his dream of writing a rock opera when a sexy new plumber steals all of his customers, prompting him to quit his day job.

  • 10-Minute Retirement: After losing his clients to a sexy new plumber, Jack quits plumbing to write his Rock Opera. But when the sewers get clogged up and the streets flood, Jack fixes it and becomes hero of the town. He takes his job back after the competitor turns out to be a stripper who took his gimmick too far.
  • Driven to Suicide: Jack keeps threatening to kill himself; the others play along just to keep him from going through with it.
  • Higher Understanding Through Drugs: In-universe, one of the key components of Rommy's parents reconciling and eventually pulling a Heel–Face Turn is the pair accidentally dropping some very bad acid that causes them to strip naked and dance for a track.
  • It's Been Done: Jack denies that his rock opera is just like Tommy. It's about a boy with no sense of taste or smell who is good at skeeball. And his name is Rommy.
