After four XANA attacks in a row, Ulrich starts to get tired of fighting XANA. On top of that, he questions his relationship with Yumi, and if she feels the same way about him. Ulrich begins to hang out with Emily when he thinks she has a "thing" for him. So he begins to hang out with her. Yumi and Sissi start to get jealous from watching. Sissi thinks up a malicious scheme to break Ulrich and Yumi's friendship.
This episode contains examples of:
- Almost Kiss: Between Yumi and Ulrich. A return trip kills the moment, and they both agree to not tell the others....yet.
- Aside Glance: Yumi gives the camera a brief one when she sends Ulrich scrambling to say that he and Emily aren't dating.
- Big "SHUT UP!": Sissi gives Herb one when he points out that she's not taking Ulrich talking with Emily well like Yumi isn't.
- Blush Sticker: Ulrich has one when he wonders if Emily has a crush on him or not. The same thing happens after the Almost Kiss with Yumi and Ulrich.
- Crash-Into Hello: Ulrich literally bumps into Jim after seeing Emily go away, distracted from seeing her.
- Clingy Jealous Girl: Yumi, even accidentally calling herself the Girlfriend of Ulrich, before correcting herself to her good friends.
- Expressive Hair: Rarely is this example used in the show, but when Herb tells Sissi about Ulrich hanging out with Emily, her hair ends up in time with Sissi's rage.
- Green-Eyed Monster: A double. Sissi and Yumi both express their jealousy in different ways when seeing Ulrich talking and laughing with Emily.
- "Groundhog Day" Loop: Ulrich is getting tired of XANA's attacks, as well as the attention span needed to concentrate during the time travel back to the past, and he feels like this is happening to him.
- Hypocritical Humor: Yumi justifies her anger about Ulrich seemingly dating Emily by stating that Emily is a year older. It's pointed out by Jeremie that Yumi herself is one year older than Ulrich, making the argument a poor attempt to hide her jealousy.
- Moment Killer: Yumi and Ulrich very nearly kiss on Lyoko, but the time rewind stops before they can. They are both clearly flustered by it when talking about it later.
- Manipulative Bitch: Moreso than usual (this bar is getting higher, though), and Sissi attempts to break up Ulrich and Yumi. The one flaw in her plan is that Ulrich, even after having a falling out with Yumi, is not vulnerable enough to run to Sissi like she wants.
- Verbal Backspace: "I'm Ulrich's Girlfriend" becomes "I'm his good friend" in two seconds flat when Yumi gets worried about Emily coming onto Ulrich.
