Chuck Versus the Leftovers is the tenth episode of Chuck's fourth season.
Things are turned upside-down the day after Thanksgiving when Chuck's mother drops by... along with Alexei Volkoff. Morgan must deal with Jeff and Lester during the Black Friday sale at the Buy More.
This episode provides examples of:
- Actor Allusion: When saving Chuck and Sarah from the assassins she sent after them on Volkov's orders, Mary tells them, "Come with me if you want to live."
- Call-Back: After unlocking the Intersect, Chuck has this to say.
- Chekhov's Gun: The Orion laptop Ellie found in her father's new car. Awesome gives it to Chuck after finding out he's a spy again, leading Chuck to solve the latest password and unlock the Intersect.
- Given Name Reveal: Jeff's full name is apparently Thomas Jefferson Barnes. Although that is coming from Lester, so who knows.
- Insistent Terminology: Jeff and Lester are not stealing a bunch of iPhones, they are "pre-buying them, with money we don't have yet."
- Internal Reveal: Volkov is informed that Chuck and Ellie are Frost's children, and agrees to leave them alone. Awesome becomes aware that Chuck is a spy again.
- Shout-Out: Towards the end, Morgan tries to rescue Casey by faking an I Surrender, Suckers with a gun taped to his back. Unfortunately, he's taped the gun to himself so he can't reach it. Casey's captors look completely dumbfounded by what they're seeing. Luckily, they've just been given the order to leave their prisoner unharmed.
- Stalker with a Crush: Alexei Volkov, for Mary Bartowski. When your stalker is head of a major arms dealing empire, and crazy, that's a problem.Volkov: I will incinerate every single one of you, including my beloved Frost. I'd rather she die than have to live without me. Give her back to me and I'll let you live. That is how you threaten someone, Charles.
- The Reveal: Mary Bartowski left her family because Volkov had fallen in love with her, making her the most valuable intelligence asset on the planet... as well as a source of danger to her family.
