Kirsten’s putting on a musical about the wondrous exploits of Captain Flamingo… but when Milo confidently tries out for the lead role, he doesn’t get the part! Then, things get even worse when the music being played in rehearsal attracts the attention of The Warrior Monkey. If Milo is annoyed at his portrayal in the play, the Warrior Monkey is furious with being represented as a "bad monkey" – so he vows revenge on the play and everyone associated with it.

Tropes in this episode:

  • Big Finale Crowd Song: Some of the rest of the cast later join in near the end of the song, which even includes the Narrator as well!
  • Borrowed Catchphrase / Hey, That's My Line! / Running Gag: Lizbeth's catchphrase "A kid! In trouble!" is borrowed by other characters specifically Kirsten, Milo and even the Narrator, which displeases her. Once she finally says her catchphrase without another character saying it, Kirsten interrupts Lizbeth as her play is going to get ruined before even it starts because of the Warrior Monkey crashing it.
  • Covered in Gunge: The Warrior Monkey uses a bucket of mashed up rotten bananas to throw at the kids, covering them with green goop.
  • Didn't Think This Through:
    • Max calls the Captain to help after somebody untied his shoelace. He claims that a hoard of giant super dogs is chasing him so he uses his extendo-grabber to tie up the shoe so he can run away. However, the extendo-grabber didn't tie Max's shoelace correctly and instead wraps the shoelace all around Max.
    • He then uses it again to retrieve a stuck kite on a roof. However, Lizbeth mentions that Rutger didn't actually call the Captain to help, but Milo then hears a lot of kids calling for the Captain to help due to the Warrior Monkey ruining Kirsten's play, thus making this specific "rescue" all for nothing.
  • Demoted to Extra: In-universe. Lizbeth finds out that Kirsten's play on Captain Flamingo's exploits that she was cut out from the play due to Kirsten having to cut the irrelevant stuff for time.
Lizbeth: What? It's 300 pages and you're the only one with any lines.
Milo: Kirsten had to make some cuts for time, like some of the less interesting or irrelevant stuff.
Lizbeth: Irrelevant? She cut out a certain sidekick whose been on every single one of your missions?! And also, Captain Flamingo can't fly!
    • It was also the reason why the Warrior Monkey wants to seek revenge on Kirsten after receiving no lines in the play despite playing the villain, and sets a trap door to trap Milo and Lizbeth after Milo finds an issue of Quantum Vigilante sitting on it.
Milo: Warrior Monkey, you did this?
Warrior Monkey: This, the pigeons, everything!
    Lizbeth: But why?
Warrior Monkey: Someone wrote a play where I'm the villain, can you imagine? And I didn't get any lines!
Milo: Don't blame me, that was Kirsten.
Warrior Monkey: Kirsten, eh? Well, if she dares besmirch the good name of me, Mister W. Monkey, I'll show her villainy!
  • "Eureka!" Moment: To stop the Warrior Monkey from ruining Kirsten's play, Milo uses his "Bird Brain" by making the play a musical in order to distract the monkey.
  • Musical Episode: The last few minutes of the episode has Milo singing a song to the tune of Toreador March in order to distract the Warrior Monkey from ruining Kirsten's play dedicated to Captain Flamingo's contributions to Halverston and Area.
  • Trap Door: Once Milo and Lizbeth arrives back to the hall to stop the Warrior Monkey, he then gets distracted after he finds a mint issue of Quantum Vigilante Issue #1 sitting under a trap door. Once he retrieves the comic, the trap door dropped him and Lizbeth, trapping them. It was revealed that it was a trap from the Warrior Monkey as he wanted to seek revenge on Kirsten after he finds out that he didn't receive any lines in the entire play despite playing the villain. He also takes Milo's Power Pack with him, causing Milo to become powerless.
  • Visible Odor: When the audience arrives at the hall to see Kirsten's play, they smell moldy bananas and a hint of wet monkey as a result of the Warrior Monkey trashing it, causing them to leave before the play even starts. The stink lines are visibly green here.

Cliffhanger

Milo desperately needs to discover what happens in the latest cliffhanger installment of Quantum Vigilante vs. The Daylight Savings Mime. Especially after he hears a string of "Uh-oh! Flamingo!" calls – all relating to being late or losing track of time. Milo sees The Daylight Savings Mime heading to the comic book store, and assumes that he’s the source of all the problems. Will Captain Flamingo stop the Daylight Savings Mime? Or will he, with the help of his Bird Brain, realize that the real problem is that daylight savings time has pushed time an hour ahead? It’s a toss up really.

Tropes in this episode:

  • All for Nothing: Milo arrives back to the comic book store to try wait in front of the line to find out what happens to Quantum Vigilante after his battle with the Daylight Savings Mime. However, the mime was already first in line in the store. Milo thought that he will lose the battle with the mime. It was then revealed by Quantum Vigilante himself that the mime was actually just a guy named Francis wanting to make a few bucks as a result of a crowd being here, meaning that he didn't actually lose the battle with the mime.
  • Didn't Think This Through:
    • Milo gives Otto rocket-powered roller skates to try to get to the zoo on time fast. However, he lost control of it causing him to go turbo fast which then hits the mime as well.
    • Milo then uses industrial strength silly string to make a web in between a street light and a stop sign to stop Otto (and the Mime) from the runaway skates which they missed, as they were supposed to get stuck to the web. This is because the string doesn't get sticky until 10 seconds after you spray it, which then caused Milo to get stuck on the web. It then dissolves after 20 seconds.
    • Milo disguises himself as the mime to try to trick the real mime by doing a Vaudeville show. Unfortunately, a butterfly came to his nose, causing him to sneeze which led to him losing.
  • Enemy Mime: The Daylight Savings Mime.
  • "Eureka!" Moment: Due to having many problems happening during the day (Otto missing his bus, Kirsten missing her TV show and Milo being first in line at the comic book store), Milo uses his "Bird Brain" that he doesn't have time to deal with the Daylight Savings Mime, which lead to him thinking that everybody's problems will be solved if he get the missing hour back, which lead to him pushing the hand of the clock tower back to an hour in reverse, causing all of the problems (except for the last one) in this episode to be solved.
  • Foreshadowing: Kirsten suggests the Captain to use his superhero influence to get the real Bitty Blobbies to start the show all over again. This is foreshadowing the ending of the episode as the Captain pushes the hand of the clock tower in reverse back to 9:00 (the time the show usually starts), which indeed caused the show to start again.
  • Literal Cliffhanger: The cliffhanger issue of Quantum Vigilante has the titular hero dangling off the edge of a cliff by The Daylight Savings Mime. Milo desperately wants to discover what happens next in the comic so he goes to the comic book store, only to find out that there is a lot of people in line due to him being late as result of the start of daylight savings.
  • Missed the Bus: Otto calls the Captain to help due to his bus leaving early as a result of the start of daylight savings since he has to arrive to the zoo with Tabitha on time because if he's late, she will be freaking out.
  • Running Gag: Anytime The Daylight Savings Mime appears in the background during a few scenes.
  • Shout-Out: Kirsten always get up early at the same time to watch her favorite show Bitty Blobbies, a Teletubbies parody on TV, but when she turns it on to watch it, the show ends early due to daylight savings, causing her to miss it for the first time in years.
  • Way Past the Expiration Date: Milo tries trading places for the people in line at the comic book store to be first in line with Quantum Vigilante-themed stuff, which backfires. One of the things he tried to trade is Quantum Vigilante beef jerky, which disgusts the crowd due to being already expired a long time ago.

"A Kid! In Trouble!"

A running gag in "The Musical" where Lizbeth's catchphrase "A kid! In trouble!" is borrowed by other characters specifically Kirsten, Milo and even the Narrator, which displeases her. Once she finally says her catchphrase without another character saying it, Kirsten interrupts Lizbeth as her play is going to get ruined before even it starts because of the Warrior Monkey crashing it (the first clip is from a different episode).

How well does it match the trope?
