While grabbing some lunch at a restaurant, Tim and Stephanie meet Damian's best friend from school, Skylar. Leading to Steph and Tim reflecting on how far Damian's come... to their little brother's chagrin.
Tropes:
- Air Quotes: When Tim quotes Damian's "compliment" that he "has hair", he makes quotation signs with his fingers.
- The Bus Came Back: Skylar, who hasn't been seen in over eighty episodes, makes an appearance. Yes, she and Damian are still friends, she still loves art, and she's still very bubbly.
- Character Development: The point of the episode is how far Damian's come since the first episode. He may still be working on his people skills, but he's clearly gotten a lot better at it.
- Funny Background Event: Skylar tells Steph and Tim about an assignment where the kids in their art class were supposed to draw family portraits, and Damian's was the best in class. In the background, Damian can be seen next to sketched portraits of the Wayne family. Everyone is drawn fairly well and realistically... but Tim is drawn not only with an unflattering expression but in the style of a Picasso painting.
- Gleeful and Grumpy Pairing: Skylar is a bubbly Cheerful Child; Damian is a rough-edged Heroic Comedic Sociopath. Stephanie isn't actually sure how it works; she and Tim theorize that Skylar may secretly be a Kent because they're the only family that can tolerate a Wayne's typical grouchiness long-term.
- Half-Baked Niceness: Tim and Stephanie meet Damian's cheerful school friend, Skylar, and Steph puts her foot in her mouth in mentioning how not-bubbly Damian is. Trying to fix it, she claims he's great at giving compliments, mentioning one that he gave Tim. Tim is dubious, given that the compliment was that he "[has] hair."
- Has a Type: Damian's two canon best friends (Skylar and Jon Kent/Superboy) are both very cheerful, positive children. Maybe Damian just attracts overtly bubbly people.
- Mood Whiplash: Steph and Tim go from happily discussing how far Damian's come in making friends... and then start theorizing on whether or not Skylar is Kryptonian, as (in their experience) only the Kents have the superhuman ability to stay cheerful in the presence of a Wayne.
- Noodle Incident: Apparently, Bruce made Tim and Damian each say one nice thing to each other in an unexplained context. Damian told Tim "You have hair."
- Not Helping Your Case: Steph talks herself into a hole when she tries to compliment Damian forming a friendship with Skylar by pointing out that she's so bubbly and Damian's so... She struggles with finishing the sentence while Damian glares at her.
- Odd Friendship: Brought up by Steph. Damian is grumpy and has No Social Skills, along with being trained as an assassin. Skylar is bubbly and energetic. She and Tim decide to look at her family history to see if she's not a Kent.
