- Anger Born of Worry: Marcy becomes incredibly angry after finding out Bonnie has been exiled for two months before Marcy found out.
- Brick Joke: When Marceline arrives, Peppermint Butler confronts her with a shotgun, but Bubblegum tells him to stand down and go until she calls for him. At the end of the adventure, as Bubblegum lays down to sleep, we hear a scared Pepbut ask "Can I come out now?"
- Creepy Crossdresser: The King of Ooo sleeps in Princess Bubblegum's nightie and wears a wig in the style of her hair.King of Ooo: Tell Bubblegum I wear her nightgown. Tell everyone!
- Eat Me: Bubblegum jumps right into the mother varmint's mouth and blasts through her stomach.
- Family-Unfriendly Violence: During the varmint fight Bonnie jumps into the mother varmint's mouth and bursts out her chest in all its green bloody glory.
- Generic Graffiti: Marceline remembers spray painting the tunnels and uncovers one of her drawings of a bat by brushing away the dust. Bubblegum also painted a tag. It read "Marceline made me write this - Bonnibel Bubblegum."
- Guns Akimbo: As she prepares for the varmint fight, Bonnie splits her shotgun in two by setting it to "two guns" mode.
- Healing Factor: The mother varmint has this.
- Innocent Innuendo: In the Brazilian Portuguese dub, the eats in PB's "I will eat you! I will eat your mom! I will eat your eggs!" is translated verbatim as the verb "comer", which is also slang for "have sex with" when talking about "comer" other people. So, basically, it sounds like Bonnie is yelling "I will bang you! I will bang your mom! I will bang your eggs!".
- It's All Junk: To escape the varmints, Marceline has to dig through the wall with Bubblegum's graffiti tag on it. She feels sorry to do it, but Bubblegum assures her it's okay. "Mess it up."
- More Teeth than the Osmond Family: The varmints look like freaky reptile/insect creatures with massive human teeth for a face. The mother varmint has two sets of teeth in her maw.
- Rage Breaking Point: Bonnie finally breaks down when she loses her trucker's cap to a varmint, because it reminds her of all she has lost.
- Time Skip: According to the King of Ooo, it has been two months since Bubblegum lost her kingdom in the season 6 finale.
- Transformation Ray: When Bubblegum sets her gun to "battery" and fires it at a varmint, it actually turns into a battery.
- The Workaholic: Deconstructed. It turns out that the reason why Princess Bubblegum and Marceline broke up their relationship in the past was because the former was too busy to manage her ever-growing kingdom. She closed herself from any possible distractions, hoping that everything would be fine, but her obsession with control alienated all her friends and allies.
