Basic Trope: An Aesop about eating healthy.
- Straight: In an episode of Alice and Bob, the two characters Bob and Alice spend their days eating junk food. They wind up overweight and miserable. The two then start eating healthier and working out more in order to get back in shape.
- Exaggerated :
- Alice and Bob only eat one Nutritional Nightmare after another, gain 1,000 pounds, and devote the entire rest of the series to losing weight.
- Alice and Bob don't lose the weight and end up dying of heart attack. That’s how the whole show ends.
- Alice and Bob put on weight and get eaten by man-eating aliens.
- Downplayed :
- The characters put on a slight bit of weight and lose it quickly.
- The message of the episode is a generic one about healthy eating and/or exercise.
- Justified: Alice and Bob have careers that require physical fitness. An unhealthy lifestyle would get in the way of the plot.
- Inverted :
- Alice and Bob skip meals to lose weight. They end up starved and miserable. The rest of the episode is about them being sure to eat regularly.
- Alice and Bob are ashamed of their weight at first. The episode focuses on them learning to accept their bodies and wind up Fat and Proud by the end.
- Subverted : The episode talks about going outside and working out … in order to spend more time with your friends.
- Double Subverted: … since that will help you be more fit.
- Parodied: The episode is just a character pointing at the viewer, yelling "GET OFF THE COUCH YOU FAT SHIT".
- Zig Zagged: The episode emphasizes having a healthy weight by warning against both obesity and starvation at the same time.
- Averted : Dieting and fitness are not brought up.
- Enforced : The writer was paid by a health advocacy group.
- Discussed : "Now I know to eat well and stay fit!"
- Conversed : "This show reminds me… I should hit the gym."
