Kim Chung-ha (Korean: 김청하, born Kim Chan-mi [김찬미]; February 9, 1996), better known mononymously as Chungha, stylized as CHUNG HA, is a South Korean singer, dancer, songwriter, and choreographer. She finished fourth in Mnet's girl group survival show Produce 101, becoming a member of the resulting girl group I.O.I.

Chungha was born on February 9, 1996, in South Korea. She lived in Dallas, Texas, under her English name Annie Kim, for eight years before returning to South Korea to become a singer.

She has been a soloist since 2018. On January 9, 2019, Chungha won her first-ever music program trophy on the MBC Music's Show Champion. Her June 2019 single "Snapping" ranked first on Show Champion.

Tropes:

  • But Not Too Foreign: She's of fully Korean ancestry, but lived in the USA for a while.
  • Concept Album: Querencia is one with the theme of Be Yourself.
  • Costume Porn: She's known for having impeccably stylish outfits. Fans of her anticipate what she wears almost as much as her songs and the hard-hitting dance moves of her comebacks.
  • Dancing Is Serious Business: She majored in dance as a university student, so this is naturally at play, especially given that it's K-Pop.
  • Gratuitous Spanish: The title of her debut album being Querencia might seem like this, although it fits with the album being influenced by Latin pop. Also, it's a hard word to translate into English (she gives a full definition of it in the opening track).
  • "I Am Becoming" Song: "Bicycle" is about becoming more confident and enjoying life. Also counts as an "I Am Great!" Song.
  • Intercourse with You: "Dream of You" is quite blatantly this trope. "Bicycle", despite some of its lyrics sounding that way, is not though.
  • Masculine Girl, Feminine Boy: In "These Nights," her collaboration with Rich Brian. In the behind-the-scenes video, Chungha herself explains that he's her girlfriend, she's the boyfriend. The music video features scenes of Chungha in a leather jacket, riding a bike, with Rich Brian riding in the backseat.
  • Meaningful Rename: Her birth name Chanmi reminds her of tough times growing up; Chungha is her more confident alter-ego.
  • Word Salad Lyrics: Despite being a completely fluent English speaker, she's especially notorious for having these in English. Like in "Snapping," where she sings: "Doesn't matter what you baby hate or love (hate or love)."
