Go To

Foster Stewart has been on the run with her adoptive mother, Cora, for over a year, trying to keep away from a group of villains known as the Core Four. When it turns out that Foster is one of eight genetically altered teens that her adoptive father, Dr. Rick, has sent to Core Four out to capture, she and her reluctant ally Tate retreat to a safe house to hide.

This scifi series told from multiple perspectives features romance, natural disasters, and elemental super powers.

The Dysasters contains examples of:

  • Black Dude Dies First: Cora dies in the third chapter.
  • Blow You Away: Our two protagonists, Foster and Tate, are bonded to the element air by their genetic alterations. It's also the element represented by Matthew of the Core Four.
  • Dishing Out Dirt: One of the four elements represented in the genetic alterations, represented by Eve of the Core Four. The teens with this power haven't been introduced yet.
  • Elemental Powers: The premise of the series is that eight teens have been genetically altered to bond with the four elements - wind, water, earth, and fire.
  • Fat Idiot: Both times a character stops at some type of convenience store/gas station, the person working there is a fat, stupid, and gross.
  • Jerk Jock: How Tate comes across during his first conversation with Foster.
  • Making a Splash: One of the four elements represented in the genetic alterations. Mark of the Core Four has it, as does Charlotte and Bastien.
  • Not Quite Flight: Tate does this a couple times accidentally when he gets overexcited using his air powers.
  • Playing with Fire: One of the four elements represented in the genetic alterations. Luke of the Core Four has it, but the two fire teens have yet to be introduced.
  • Red-Headed Hero: Foster's wild red hair is emphasized frequently, to the point that both Cora and Tate call her Strawberry.
  • Sassy Black Woman: Sabine and, too a lesser extent, Cora.
  • Trans Tribulations: Charlotte's backstory and personal character conflict center on her being a trans woman.
  • Tornado Move: The primary use of the element air so far.
