Suicide Notes from Beautiful Girls is a thriller novel written by Lynn Weingarten. It was first published by 2015.

On her first day back to school after winter break, junior student June finds out that her best friend Delia is dead. Rumour has it that she burned herself to death in her stepfather's shed.

However, June finds a hole in that rumour; Delia was afraid of fire.

Now she must talk to everyone Delia was friends with and uncover the truth about her death.

This book contains examples of:

  • Abusive Parents: Delia's stepfather William. His most heinous act towards her was attempting to rape her as a younger teen.
  • Ambiguously Bi:
    • While June had a boyfriend, Ryan, her intensely close relationship with Delia implies she may swing both ways.
    • Delia moreso, who also has a boyfriend, but described finding a best friend as being like finding a true love, and was practically obsessed with June, not unlike a clingy girlfriend. She's confirmed to be bi when it's revealed that she wasn't dead, and now Ashling is her girlfriend.
  • Affectionate Nickname:
    • Delia had two for June: Junie and Junebug.
    • The tow sometimes called each other J and D.
  • Asshole Victim: Near the end, June, Delia, Sebastian, Evan, and Ashling kill William using his own insulin, then cover it up as a suicide.
  • Bread, Eggs, Breaded Eggs: Delia says that your body isn't any boy's business, unless they're your pimp, a plastic surgeon, or a pimp plastic surgeon.
  • Domestic Abuse: William isn't much better to Delia's mother than he is to Delia.
  • Driven to Suicide: Delia supposedly killed herself, but June thinks she was murdered. The closing letter all but outright states that June killed herself to be with Delia.
  • Fell Asleep Crying: Chapter 26 opens with June crying herself to sleep and then waking up for school the nest morning puffy-eyed.
  • It's All My Fault: June blames herself for Delia dying, because she abandoned her.
  • Killed Off for Real:
    • Although the second half supposedly brings her back, the ending reveals that Delia really was dead all along.
    • In the last few chapters, Jeremiah dies in a car accident.
  • Not Quite Dead: Halfway through the book, Delia is revealed to have been alive the whole time. Later subverted, as this is revealed to be a fantasy of June's.
  • Posthumous Character: Delia is already dead when the story starts, and only appears through flashbacks. Until she doesn't.
  • Really Gets Around: A more innocent example: Delia had already kissed about half a dozen boys by the time she was twelve.
  • Sir Swears-a-Lot: Most of the characters swear often, but Delia most of all.
  • Switching P.O.V.: After Delia is revealed to not be dead, the chapters alternate between June and Delia's perspective.
  • Teen Pregnancy: Delia, who was around sixteen/seventeen when she died, had had at least one abortion, and was implied to be pregnant when she died. The latter is disproven when Delia confirms the test June found in the trash after she "died" belonged to her mother, not her.
  • Too Unhappy to Be Hungry: June loses a lot of sleep and appetite in the first little while after Delia's death.
  • Wham Line: The last few words of the book are these:
June's letter: I'm coming. Yours always, June.
