Other Comics

  • Preacher: Jesse Custer's power of the Word (his ability to force people to do what he says) has a catch: the Word must be both heard and understood to work. Among other things, this means it doesn't work on animals, various characters avoid it by covering their ears, and at one point it's rendered moot when a squad of soldiers who only speak French are sent after him.
  • PS238: The Superman Captain Ersatz Atlas is vulnerable to Argonite, the irradiated remnants of his homeworld Argos. It later transpires that Argonite is a synthetic, Earth-made material created by the US military specifically as a way to keep Atlas in check. It also has the side-effect of working on all Flying Bricks, including native Earth ones like 84 and also every member of the not-at-all-destroyed Argos' noble houses.
  • While most superheroes in The Boys are resistant or immune to normal bullets, depleted uranium rounds are shown to bypass this.
