• Marty starting a fistfight with Melissa for calling her a pig, but then admitting that she actually likes pigs.
• Marty thinking that she wants to be the first female clown when she grows up, but then saying she'd like to kill Katie, Ingrid, and Alicia.
  Marty's Dad: "I don't know of any clowns who are also mass murderers."
• When Marty is crying about having to move into Melissa's bedroom so that her room (also known as her "Marty Den") can be converted to a sewing room, she says, "But what about Mighty Mart!?", who is her imaginary superhero persona. Marty's mother says, "She's safe in your head, you noodle!".
• Marty Playing Sick by crayoning her face in red.
  Marty's Mother: "What is that red stuff on your face?!"
  Marty: "It's not red stuff. It's me."
• The bullies nicknaming Marty Bluebottle for the blue dress she was made to wear. When she looks it up, she finds that it's a synonym for a blowfly; an insect that lays eggs in carrion. She then gets in trouble for Egging Katie, Ingrid, and Alicia saying that blowflies lay eggs in horrible things, and they're horrible, so if she's a blowfly, she will "lay [her] eggs" in them.
  • She then is confined to her and Melissa's room and denied dinner as punishment, and vents her frustrations by drawing an emaciated Mighty Mart throwing eggs. When her mother sees the drawing, Marty tries to lie and say that the eggs depicted are actually sunbeams.
  • Marty gets forced to make apology notes, and her first draft is just, "Dear Katie, sorry."
• Marty making a mess of her and Melissa's room, but then realising she'd get in trouble, and so trying to literally will the room to tidy itself. Her mother notices and asks why she's making funny faces.
• Marty coming up with the nickname "Farty Marty".
• Marty accidentally visiting the hospital while still in her pyjamas, and not even noticing until a nurse calls her Pyjama Queen.
• Marty's apology after she rips the arms and legs off Melissa's doll.
  Marty: "I'm sorry I amputated Baba."
• Marty's annoyance at Melissa taking a long time to explain how to use hand lotion.
  Marty: "It's not rocket science! Cream, hands, rub!"
