Funny / Risk of Rain 2

Per wiki policy, Spoilers Off applies here and all spoilers are unmarked. You Have Been Warned.

  • Although dying sucks, the game manages to have its fair share of funny death messages, examples of which include:
You die a slightly embarassing[sic] death.
You die in a hilarious pose.
Try playing on Drizzle mode for an easier time.
    [player] IS DEAD
    ur dead LOL get rekt
    You left a beautiful crater.
You lost a fight with gravity.
  • The logbook entry for the Weeping Fungus has two unknown individuals bickering over whether they should eat the aforementioned mushroom or not. One guy insists on doing it, and the other one is absolutely not having it, complete with Symbol Swearing.
  • Multiplayer has a good one; if one player enters the final boss' arena before anyone else, they can photobomb the cutscene that triggers when everyone is in the arena, leading to your survivor standing right in front of Mithrix, completely out of place... and oftentimes leading to him immediately trying to flatten you as soon as the cutscene ends.
    • Try activating the Artifact of Swarms. This doubles the enemies that spawn... including bosses. Which also includes, you guessed it, Mithrix. Imagine fighting him and his identical copy/twin, without either of them noticing that maybe there shouldn't be two of them; either that, or they don't care and just want to kill you anyway.
      • If you have both the Artifact of Swarms and the Artifact of Chaos on, and one Mithrix happens to hit the other, they will fight each other. This is true of all bosses, but it's probably funniest with Mithrix.
  • The red tier Spare Drone Parts item tells you that it attaches a chaingun to all drones after picking it up. What it doesn't tell you is that there's a small chance that the "chaingun" is instead a pistol carried by a mechanical arm. With the same fire rate and damage as the normal chaingun.
  • The Tri-Hunter's Tricorn is generally a really fun item that gives you a spooky ghostly blunderbuss that points at enemies when the item is ready to be activated. If you're playing as Acrid, this gun is both upside down and backwards, suggesting Acrid has no idea how the gun works.
  • The game offers mod support. A mod that offers a handful of changes (and subsequent laughs) is "Moisture Upset", thanks to being chock full of memes:
    • It changes the title to, as you might expect already, "Moisture Upset" and replaces the main menu theme with "HEYYEYAAEYAAAEYAEYAA". The title also has the crying laughing emoji included in the logo.
    • A variety of sounds are replaced by something else, such as the "critical hit" sound now being an airhorn and the "click" when selecting a menu option being replaced by an obnoxiously loud gunshot.
    • A lot of enemies get replaced, too. Examples include Beetles becoming Froggy Chairs, Lemurians becoming Mike Wazowski, Stone Golems becoming Roblox players (complete with randomized costumes and an "IMMA FIRIN MAH LAZER" attack, and the Stone Titan variant being a "Buff Robloxian" instead), Lesser Wisps becoming a weiner dog in an airplane going "ba" and Jellyfish becoming what else but a crying laughing emoji. In terms of bosses and the like? The Beetle Queen turns into Nyan Cat, Aurelionite becomes Alex Jones, the worms are "pool noodles", Void Reavers are crabs (as in the actual animal), and the Wandering Vagrant is a block textured with the Discord icon that spawns clusters consisting of the "1" ping icon that spam ping noises. On Commencement, the Lunar Chimera Golems and Wisps are R.O.B. and ROFLcopter respectively. As for what Mithrix is? He's Thanos, complete with his quotes replacing the normal dialogue.
    • Sometimes, when a teleporter event is initiated, it will play Yakety Sax.
    • Moisture Upset adds Providence as one of the bosses that can spawn. The kicker? He's an absolute joke; he's entirely harmless unless you get up in his face, and otherwise only moves around with no running animation.
    • Multishop terminals are turned into fidget spinners. The prompt to activate them is appropriately titled "SPEEEEEN".
    • Instead of an escape pod, survivors emerge from Shrek's outhouse with the first word of Smash Mouth's "All-Star" blasting in tandem with the "pod" getting opened.
