The Throne of Heaven is a Bleach fanfiction written by Egleris
as a re-imagining of the Tite Kubo's famous work. It is a rewrite of the entire Bleach manga in written form with substantial changes to worldbuilding, characters and plot to fit what (in my personal opinion and taste) would be a more logical and satisfying progression. Due to said changes, previous knowledge of Bleach shouldn't be required to follow the story; at least, that's what I'm hoping to go for.

- Achievements in Ignorance: Several actions characters take end up helping later down the line
- Adaptational Badass/Adaptational Wimp: In this story the mechanics of the universe work differently making things zigzag between being stronger or weaker. Saketsu & Hakusui don't seem to exist & the mechanics of spirit powers means Hollows have the highest amount of reiatsu to fuel abilities but lack control while even Shinigami Captains rarely reach levels of reiatsu equal to the weakest hollows their sheer skill with what they do have allows them to put up incredible fights. Quincy while also skilled aren't at the level where they can fight Captains 1 on 1 without trouble. Everybody is able to pull out far more creative applications of their powers.
- Isshin, Kisuke, some of the Vizards aren't at the same level they were in the main story. Ichigo is far more creative with his different powersets but lacks Bankai & the Hybrid Transcendence he had in canon. Aizen isn't at the level where he can single-handedly defeat a majority of the Gotei 13 Captains by himself. The Royal Guard are only Captain Level
- Adaptation Name Change: Bankai's no longer have the name change that they did in canon.
- Kisuke's power is now purple energy Time Manipulation as opposed to Crimson Energy Reconstruction.
- Adaptation Species Change / Adaptational Superpower Change: These 2 technically go hand in hand for some characters & powers:
- Liltotto (mace with teeth), Ririn (bubbles touch illusion), Dordoni, Kensei, Lisa (wind blasts), Tsukishima are Shinigami.
- Berenice (sonic blasts), Jerome (earthquake strikes), Tatsuki (fire shaping) are Vizard.
- Isshin is a fullbringer with medical powers.
- As Nodt is an Arrancar Espada with freezing power, though it is based on the emotion of fear.
- Asshole Victim: Ichibei was a complete dick to Rukia when she was being held in confinement & accused her of being responsible for Aizen's death. Just before he's killed & devoured he admitted he planned to use the Throne to put the nobles of Soul Society on top & oppress the common people even more.
- Badass in Distress: Shinji gets captured by Grand Fisher.
- Character Development: Many of the characters grow throughout the story & improve in where they struggled initially: Ichigo, Rukia, Tatsuki, Chad, Renji, Uryu, Orihime, Hitsugaya, Komamura
- Eldritch Abomination: The biggest one in the story The Throne of Heaven is an incompletely formed Menos caught in the middle of a feeding frenzy that can connect to every soul and rewrite reality.
- Emotional Powers: The power mechanics used in the story are based on the idea of imbuing reiatsu with emotions causing different effects. Unique hollow powers are the result of a specific combination of emotions that the hollow's core is based on & Kido is also modeled after the same principles. The effects are most commonly shown in Hakuda use: rage makes fire, calm water, fear ice, disgust repulsion, excitement electricity, loneliness isolation, determination rock weight, disdain steel, curiosity magnification lens, affection adhesive.
- Faux Affably Evil: Aizen, Jugram, Hi-Wan (Yhwach)
- Foil:
- Friend-or-Idol Decision: Komamura is faced with this. He ultimately chooses to save Tousen as opposed to healing Yamamoto after realizing how the latter cares for Soul Society as an ideal more than its people.
- Genre Savvy: Orihime constantly lists tropes.
- Hate Sink: Tsukishima. He caused the death of Ginjo's mother by stopping the latter and uses his zanpakuto to manipulate others all while planning to kill them and everybody close to them. He even subsumes his zanpakuto to get Bankai.
- Heroic Sacrifice: Byakuya sacrifices himself to kill Tsukishima. Ukitake does the same to defeat Stark.
- Hoist by His Own Petard: Ichigo kills Yammy by using his energy absorption to take a lethal attack.
- Nemu kills Szayelaporro with the same Gran Rey Cero trap he used to kill Mayuri.
- Kenpachi defeats Nnoitra by reversing their injuries.
- Manly Tears: Shunsui Kyoraku after Ukitake's death as the latter's sword is slowly disintegrating.
- Ichigo when he rejects Aizen's offer to bring his mother back & again when leaving Shiro to guard over the Throne
- Mistaken Identity: Nnoitra and Barragan refuse to believe that Unohana could possibly be a major threat. It's to the point that when the former is fighting Zaraki that he thinks this is the real Kenpachi he was being warned about while Barragan believes it was actually Rukia while she kills him.
- Serial Escalation: How Lisa's Zanpakuto works in this story, as her sword's power increases the longer a battle goes on.
- Sorting Algorithm of Evil: Starts with Hollows, then Xcution, then the Vizards, then Soul Society, then Arrancar, and finally the Arrancar and the Quincy under Aizen.
- The Dog Bites Back: Kyoka Suigetsu after being forcefully controlled and shattered by Aizen re-establishes it's connection with him to mess up his control over the Throne and cause the backlash to kill him.
- Underestimating Badassery: Ulquiorra thoroughly believes that Hollows are the dominant species. Being proved wrong ends up breaking him.
- Yamamoto has a tendency to do this. In the final battle it gets his Bankai stolen and says too much allowing Hi-Wan to figure out how to use it properly.
- Villainous Breakdown: Ulquiorra has one inflicted on him by Unohana after she nullifies his reversal powers and is forced to feel his emotions as he is killed by a soul reaper.
- Aizen after getting his ass constantly handed to him by Ichigo & the latter's sheer refusal to submit.
- Well-Intentioned Extremist: Subverted. Aizen wants to erase all Hollows and restructure the universe with him on top, but ultimately he doesn't care about anyone else and is willing to ensure everyone loses if he can't win.
