Along the way he tries to reassemble his village's source of power the Jit Kun Crystal, which was divided and hidden across Asia. All of course while having fate spit on him at every possible turn.Along the way meet a host of colourful characters and be enchanted by the fictional world.

This work contains examples of:

  • Ascended Fanboy: Patchface is a fan of all things criminal, eventually he gets caught up in the world of assassins with his role model, Gutou Daisui.
  • Ascended to Carnivorism: The Feral Islands make people gradually go feral, aka wild and savage. This trope applies because the herbivores don't stay herbivorous.
  • Asian Fox Spirit: In fact an entire secret village of kitsune.
  • Badass Adorable: The majority of the characters are cute cuddly animals in clothes...who kick butt once every few chapters.
  • Bloody Murder: Both Xueye and the Hemomancer kill and fight with blood, be it their own or someone else's.
  • Cape Wings: Both Khan and Baijian have this, and their fighting styles revolve around it.
  • Death Is Dramatic: Subverted, in that while most deaths affect the reader in some (usually tearful) manner, none get the chance for a long final speech.
  • Evil Versus Evil: Well Saras can't really be described as 'good', and neither are his nemesis' (prime example, Yang Chao), so this trope fits, though loosely, eventually the trope fits like a glove.
  • Limited Wardrobe: Loosely followed by the majority of the stories' characters, to the point that a whole new description is added for when a character changes their attire.
  • Swallowed Whole: Happens quite often to the titular character, so much so in fact that it becomes a Running Gag.
  • Tanuki: Danzaburo Danaki, Pulsar and the Nai-Echantedo Tanuki... None of whom have the ah, testicles.
  • Ungrateful Bastard: At the end of The Heist the Bat Cave refuses to pay the Wu Sisters, despite the fact that they helped them rob the Xue gem, though seeing as they were manipulated into doing it in the first place...
  • Whip Sword: Dianbo had one in the earlier drafts of the story, replaced with an actual (albeit metal) whip.
