Fanfic / Spy X Son

Go To

On a regular day at Eden's Academy, a new student arrives to Anya's class named Son Pan, who transferred and skipped a few grades due to her exceptional intelligence. However, as Anya soon learns, Pan's family is just as odd and exciting as her own family.

Spy x Son is a crossover between Dragon Ball Super and Spy X Family, with Pan and her immediate family moving to Ostenia and befriending the Forger family. It was completed on November 20, 2022.

Spy X Son contains the following tropes:

  • Adaptational Origin Connection: The Red Ribbon Army was the organization that captured Anya and forcefully gave her the power to read minds.
  • Arbitrary Skepticism: Despite remembering Perfect Cell's threat against the world from his childhood and learning more about that event when he joined WISE, Loid treats the story of a giant monkey attacking a past World Martial Arts Tournamentnote  as a made-up story from his youth.
  • Big Eater: Loid is surprised at the large amount for food Videl cooked for the get together, and more so when Videl says that this is less than what she usually makes for her family.
  • Birds of a Feather:
    • Being cheerful and sweet girls, Anya and Pan become quick friends.
    • Yor and Videl get along quickly when Yor arrives at Videl's dojo, and their combative prowess and strength help them get along.
  • Blatant Lies: Goku promises Chi-Chi that he won't eat Goten's lunch when he heads off to take him back to school, though she knows very well he's going to eat all of it. He also fails to convince Goten that he didn't eat his lunch.
  • Entertainingly Wrong:
    • After seeing Goku teleport with Goten and Trunks, Yor believes that the fighter might be a magician, not knowing that he's an alien.
    • When he hears from Yor about how Goten honestly told her his father died before he was born only for said father to pick him up, Loid suggests that a traumatic event made it seem that Goku was dead during Goten's childhood. He doesn't know that Goku did die and came back from the dead.
  • Et Tu, Brute?: Played for Laughs when Yuri finds out that the Forgers are having a family dinner with the Son family and he wasn't invited. He blames Loid for "corrupting" Yor's idea of family.
  • The Force Is Strong with This One: The Dragon Ball characters like Videl can sense that despite her sweet and ordinary appearance, Yor Forger has a high amount of ki compared to ordinary civilians.
  • Insane Troll Logic: Yuri claims that Yor is stronger than Gohan because while Gohan helped Chi-Chi raise Goten after Goku's death, Yor raised Yuri all by herself after their parents died.
  • Internal Reveal: The story ends with Yor, inspired when she sees the Son family embracing their odd quirks, telling Loid that she's an assassin.
  • My Dad Can Beat Up Your Dad:
    • After reading Pan's memories of her father being a superhero, Anya and Pan both argue about whose dad is the coolest and strongest. Though after seeing Pan's memories of Gohan defeating Cell Max, Anya concedes that the latter is stronger than Loid.
    • When Goten and Trunks are hanging with Yor and Yuri, Yuri starts an argument with Goten about whose older sibling is the strongest. Goten is also offended when Yuri calls his sister-in-law Videl a "wannabee karate teacher" that can't beat his sister.
  • Not What It Looks Like: When Bond gets a vision of Piccolo standing over Anya, Anya fears that the green-skinned being is going to capture her. Piccolo comes because he was invited by Gohan to meet the Forgers since he sees him as part of his family as well as to investigate Anya, and with his own Telepathy he assures Anya he has no intention of taking her away from her family.
  • Saying Too Much: During his argument with Yuri about whose sibling is the strongest, Goten almost blurts out that Gohan was the one that killed Cell, though Trunks smacks him to the ground before he can do so.
  • Simple Solution Won't Work: Back during the Ostania and Westalis war, Kami considered sending the Z-Fighters to end the senseless loss of human life. He refrained from doing so because revealing the god-like strength of Goku and the others would have made them targets of corrupt governments as their new weapons. Word of God adds that any government attempts to get control of the Z-Fighters, particularly the more volatile ones like Vegeta, would end badly for said government.
  • Skipping School: Chapter 4 has Goten and Trunks ditching school to try out a candy shop in Ostania.
  • Social Climber: Since Operation STRIX requires the Forger to have enough social standing to get close to Donnovan Desmond, Loid secretly utilizes the friendship with the Son family (with Videl being Mr. Satan's daughter and Gohan essentially being a prince as the Ox-King's grandson and a son of former martial art champion Goku) to improve the Forger's standing.
  • Tears of Joy: Anya cries in relief after Piccolo tells that the Red Ribbon Army, who experimented on her as a child, no longer exist and won't be coming after her.
  • Strange Minds Think Alike: With Piccolo coming with the Son family for the family dinner with the Forgers, Videl comes up with a cover story that Piccolo's green skin is from a strange complexion illness. When Yor opens the door to greet them, she, without any prompting, thinks that Piccolo is sick due to his green skin.
  • Telepathy: Anya with her power to read minds, like in canon. Piccolo also uses telepathy to communicate with Anya in secret during the Forger-Son get-together.
  • You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!: Loid thinks that Frankie is joking at first when he says that Gohan's mother, Chi-Chi, is a princess.
