Always as One
is an AU of The Owl House, in which Hunter, a hunter of monsters and demons, meets and falls and love with Willow, a succubus who rejects the nature of her kind.
- Adaptational Species Change:
- All the witch characters that don't become demons are human in this AU, though many still use magic.
- Willow and Boscha are succubi in this setting.
- King goes from a young Titan to a cat familiar of Eda's.
- The Blight siblings are all half-human and half-demon in this universe.
- Badass Longcoat: A trademark of the Shining Sun organization, along with a wide-brimmed hat and cloth mask to conceal the lower face. Overlaps closely with Coat, Hat, Mask.
- Basilisk and Cockatrice: While Vee remains a basilisk very similar to canon, a cockatrice is slain by the main characters that more closely resembles the legend: a massive, reptilian rooster with a deadly stare and poisonous blood.
- Demonlords And Archdevils: The Belowlands are ruled by an oligarchy of the most powerful demons to survive the Great Offscreen War known as the "Crucible," and who control their own territories. Odalia stands among their ranks as a demon lady.
- Friendly Neighborhood Vampire: Of the succubus variety. Willow is a trained herbalist who uses her skills to treat the wounded, completely in contrast to her demon nature.
- Half-Human Hybrid: The Blight siblings are all cambions in this AU, Odalia being a demon and Alador being human.
- Hell: Referred to as the "Belowlands," it is a rocky, desolate place adjacent to the mortal world where demons and monsters originate, ruled by an oligarchy of demon lords and ladies.
- Hunter of Monsters: Play on words aside, Hunter is one in this universe. He is a mamber of a Creature-Hunter Organization funded by the monarchy that hunts demons and the monsters from the Belowlands.
- Interspecies Romance: The main premise of the work is Hunter and Willow - a monster hunter and a succubus - living, traveling, and fighting monsters together while deeply and openly attracted to one another.
- Succubi and Incubi: Willow is a succubus, and a central character. They are shown to resemble the archetypal appearance with bat wings, spaded tails, and horns, though they can appear human. They feed on life energy derived from carnal acts and can kill their victims if they are not careful.
- Succubus in Love: Willow, a succubus, ends up falling in love with the human monster hunter Hunter.
- Trauma Button: Willow comes from the region of the Belowlands ruled by Odalia, and when she recognizes that Amity is related to Odalia she freaks and has to be restrained from attacking Amity until she can be calmed down.
