Fan Fic / Geishas Of Winter

Go To

Geishas of Winter is a late 2010/early 2011 fanfic by Oxenstierna D. Yuki-Rin. In the fic, her OC, Aki Chung-Feng, the daughter of Sir Crocodile, finds herself in an arranged marriage to the brother of her true love, Heathcliffe Sarutobi. Heathcliffe and Aki decide to have an affair, which only they and their friends know about. Hilarity Ensues in this parody of romance novels set in Asia.

Oxenstierna D. Yuki-Rin is in the process of revising her fanfic, so all tropes listed will be for the revision. The revision serves as a companion fic to the fanfic Scott Pilgrim vs. Snow Flower and the Secret Hall Pass, which takes all the tropes for Asian romance novels and parodies it.

This fic contains examples of:

  • Bishounen: Heathcliffe. Kazuma also counts to some extent.
  • Charity Ball: Crocodile throws a dinner party with a charity auction for orphans in chapter three.
  • Dances and Balls: It appears that this fanfic will have several, as a garden party is mentioned in passing in chapter one and chapter three's action takes place at a dinner party.
  • Dreadlock Rasta: Kazuma. Subverted when Word of God states that he is a blonde-haired, blue-eyed, Bishounen caucasian and he's not Rastafarian.
  • Fancy Dinner: As stated above, there is a dinner party that happens.
  • Long Hair Is Feminine: Aki. She considers it her best feature.
  • Love Interest: Heathcliffe Sarutobi. Played straight with chapter two's title, "Heathcliffe Sarutobi, the Perfect Boy".
  • Perky Goth: The three Sarutobi siblings count as perky goths. Although they love punk rock music and their entire wardrobe is from Hot Topic, they share a close, brotherly bond and Heathcliffe falls in love with Aki.
    • Molly also counts as one of these, as she wears gothic clothes to the dinner party in chapter three.
  • Advertisement:
  • Qipao: Aki wears a qipao or a qipao blouse with pants or a skirt in every chapter. This has lead Yuki-Rin to coin the term, "Aki's Chenogsam of the Day".
  • The Quincy Punk: The Sarutobi siblings love punk rock to the point where all of their clothes are from Hot Topic.
  • Underdressed for the Occasion: Heathcliffe, Holden, and Soren go to the dinner party Crocodile is holding in chapter three dressed like they belong in Green Day.
  • Wild Mass Guessing: The orphans or orphanage Crocodile held the charity auction for was for the orphanage Axel burned down in Ansem Retort.
