    Masked Deuce

Masked Deuce

First Mate to Ace and the Spade Pirates, as well as the Character Narrator of the books.

  • The Cameo: He makes a brief, nonspeaking cameo in the anime adaptation of Yamato's flashback. Unseen in the manga, the anime explains this by the showing him aboard the Spade Pirates ship when the events of said flashback played out.
  • Cool Mask: He wears a fancy mask to hide his identity.
  • Combat Medic: He was a medical student before becoming a pirate and eventually joins the Whitebeard Pirates' medical division, although his primary role on the Spade Pirates' crew is as First Mate and as a combatant.
  • That Man Is Dead: Effectively the reason he goes along with the name Ace sticks him with, despite initially disliking it; he discarded his old identity when he set out to sea.
  • Meaningful Name: Ace dubs him Masked Deuce, because 'deuce' is the two to 'ace's' one in cards, and because he always wears a mask. The name sticks.
  • Number Two: He is Ace's First Mate of the Spade Pirates.
  • Only Sane Man: Apparently he is one of, if not the most, stable and rational member of the Spade Pirates, especially in comparison to Ace.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: He's the blue, more calm and serious personality in comparison to Ace's red, more fiery and reckless personality. It even shows in their character designs, with Ace's red flames contrasting with Masked Deuce's blue hair.

    Skull

Skull

Debut: One Piece: Ace's Story

One of the members of Ace's crew, an info broker and pirate enthusiast. Wears a skull mask to hide his identity.

  • Cloudcuckoolander: Definitely has some shades of this.
  • Dramatic Unmask: Was apparently hoping to invoke this at some point, but Deuce speculates in his narration that it's been too long and now it would just be awkward.

    Mihal

Mihal

Debut: One Piece: Ace's Story

A member of Ace's crew, a traveling teacher who is also an excellent shot.

  • Improbable Aiming Skills: Able to somehow fire accurately anywhere around the ship, despite remaining unseen and indoors the majority of the time.

  • Reports of My Death Were Greatly Exaggerated: Was presumed dead after an encounter with a Sea King. She was left on a deserted island later, and after months of being stranded she finally made her way back to Amazon Lily.
  • Starter Marriage: Was married, but then had to be separated several months later in order for her to return to Amazon Lily.
