Hanamiya
Konomi Kasahara

The protagonist who joins the Climbing Club out of curiosity. She was a former gamer which allows her to analyze her surroundings making her one-up a climb despite being a beginner.
- Awesomeness by Analysis: Having been a gamer, she strategizes her movements.
- The Determinator: She becomes hard-pressed to make a win for Hanamiya after Kurusu told her that she did not have a chance to.
- Gamer Girl: She was a hard gamer back in her day which works in her favor when climbing earning her the nickname "Mother Eye."
- Heroic BSoD: Has one of these in the training camp when she realizes she can’t match the other climbers’ speed. It takes a Get A Hold Of Yourself Man from Ooba and a pep talk from Jun to get her act together.
- It's All My Fault: Believes it is her own fault when Jun decided to train away from the team.
Jun Uehara

- Affectionate Nickname: Konomi takes a liking to calling her "Jun-Chan".
- Fatal Flaw: She takes climbing too seriously. It actually is one of the reasons as to why it was hard to have other potential members join before Konomi came.
- Friendless Background: Jun tends to practice rock climbing by herself. There was one girl that expressed interest in it, but she scared her off.
- Hypocrite: She chastises Konomi for finding climbing fun, but she neglected to realize that was the reason she became invested in the sport.
- Serious Business: She views climbing as this taking offense at anyone who considers it "fun."

- The Napoleon: She hates the fact that she is short which would often undermine her performances.

- Ambiguously Evil: She is very disconcerting to be around what with her smile and predatorial nature. However, when she personally goes to speak to Konomi, she seems to actually want to be civil with her. Though at the same time, she notes about how much of a tasty meal Konomi would make.
- Huge Schoolgirl: The tallest character in the series. Her long limbs allow her to perform maneuvers impossible for most climbers.
