Emma
The dramatic and daring of the twins, Emma loves to play rough and have fun.
- Big Eater: She is shown to be this in several scenes, like this one
. - Butt-Monkey: She is the worst offender. She gets less respect and often gets the biggest amount of injuries, embarrassment or just something bad happening to her in general, including having her drawing destroyed in "A Doodle Surprise For You", her toys getting ruined by slime due to a prank in "Valentine's Day Prank", getting blown away by Kate's sneezing in "Sick Day" and getting hit in the face with a pie in "Baking Pumpkin Pie". However, this is usually payback for hurting Kate's feelings.
- Girlish Pigtails: Although a bit more tomboyish than Kate, she sports these.
- Drama Queen: She is shown to be this.
- Power Makes Your Voice Deep: She is more confident and rough than Kate, and since 2020, has a slightly deeper voice than her twin sister.
- Tomboy: She is less hygienic and more mischievous and aggressive than Kate. Sometimes she likes to do girly things though, usually with Kate.
Kate
The independent and caring of the twins, Kate is a shy but gentle little girl who loves her friends and family.
- Butt-Monkey: She is arguably more prone to humiliation than Emma. Her worst examples are when she fails to teach her pet cats in "Bat Cats Learn", falling from a height in "Baby Bird", and getting hit with a cup of orange juice in "Emma and Kate Go To Paris".
- Expository Hairstyle Change: Kate does this in one episode, where she ties her hair into a bun. Other than that, Kate always has her hair in a ponytail, while Emma keeps her hair in pigtails.
- Girly Girl: Her more gentle, caring and independent nature make her this, although she has a liking for more rough and boyish things.
- Shrinking Violet: Kate is more shy and introverted than Emma, although that makes her more caring and cautious.
- Sick Episode: Kate becomes ill in "Sick Day", and so does Emma at the end of the episode, when Kate is feeling better.
- Tomboyish Ponytail: Although more gentle and girly than Emma, she sports this.
