One of Earth's three dominant superpowers. By R2, they've taken to laying low while they wait to start negotiations with the Decepticons.

    In General
  • Crapsack World: The nation as a whole is forced into poverty to sate the material desires of the High Eunuchs. Their ruler is a Puppet Queen who hasn't even left the Vermillion City, that is until the deaths of the High Eunuchs and the Empress Tianzi's rightful rule has been restored.
  • Mook Mobile: Their primary Knightmare is the Gun-Ru (which are essentially Cannon Fodder to Britannian Knightmares).

Leadership

    Empress Tianzi

"Xingke... you kept your promise... I'm so happy... thank you!"
The Empress of China, Tianzi (literally meaning "Son of Heaven") is the young Empress of the Chinese Federation, thus far referred to only by the traditional title attributed to the Chinese Emperor. Her real name is Jiang Lihua.
  • A Child Shall Lead Them: Is the current Empress of China, but is technically a system the High Eunuchs orchestrated.
  • The Cameo: Appears with Li Xingke and the High Eunuchs in Rise of the Decepticons during Megatron's speech to the world.
  • The Joy of First Flight: In A United Front Facing the Dark Horizon (not counting her rescue in the previous chapter), Tianzi really enjoyed her first flight Windblade took her on in the skies above Horai Island.
  • Puppet Queen: Thundercracker easily deduces that she's this and that the High Eunuchs hold the real power.
  • Starstruck Speechless: In A Different Kind of Engagement, after being freed from the High Eunuchs' hold, this is pretty much her reaction when she first meets Optimus Prime.
  • Tears of Joy: She happily bursts into tears when Xingke helped fulfill his promise to take her out of the Forbidden City. She also cries again while thanking Optimus for freeing her.

"I am placing my trust in all of you, do not make me regret it."
An officer of the Chinese Military. After he and his forces join the Black Knights, he later becomes deputy commander of the Black Dragon unit alongside Kyoshiro Tohdoh.
  • Abled in the Adaptation: Unlike in the anime, Xingke is not suffering from a disease.
  • Big Brother Instinct: Towards Empress Tianzi. He is as protective of the Empress as Lelouch is of Nunnally.
  • In-Universe Catharsis: Feels a great sense of satisfaction when he cuts down the High Eunuchs for their many heinous actions.
    Grimlock: Feel good?
    Xingke: You have no idea.
  • The Cameo: Was mentioned by C.C. in Knights and Miracle Workers. He later appears with Tianzi and the High Eunuchs in Rise of the Decepticons when Megatron broadcasts his victory over Britannia to the entire world.
  • The Mole: The end of R1 reveals he's already an informant for the Black Knights.

Gao Hai, the 8th Eunuch
A group of councilors that run the Chinese Federation through the Empress. All of them are eventually killed by Xingke, with Gao Hai being the first in The Brightness Falls and the rest of them being cut down in A Different Kind of Engagement.
  • The Cameo: They appear alongside Li Xingke and Tianzi during Megatron's speech in Rise of the Decepticons.
  • Dies Differently in Adaptation: Gao Hai is beheaded by Xingke here, as opposed to being merely cut down by the man as he was in canon.
  • It's All About Me: C.C. calls them the most egotistical people she's ever met in her immortal life. Part of the reason they're dragging their heels on joining the Decepticons is that they want to join as equals, not subordinates. Starscream is incredulous at this.
  • Opportunistic Bastard: All of them. They're always looking to gain more comfort, power, and political influence. They are particularly interested in gaining Cybertronian allies and are not picky if they're Autobots or Decepticons. When Tianzi could be killed by the Decepticons during the Autobots' attempt to free her, the Eunuchs see it as a way to frame the Autobots and rally the population against them.
  • The Starscream: Thundercracker calls them "a den of Starscreams", due to that they're just as power-hungry and backstabbing in nature as the Trope Namer himself. They even murdered Tianzi's mother and father to claim the throne for themselves, and were all too happy to kill Tianzi herself.
  • Villain Takes an Interest: While Tianzi is terrified during Megatron's speech in Rise of the Decepticons, the Eunuchs watch the broadcast with intrigue instead of fear. Anyone who knows the Eunuchs from canon (like Schneizel) knows that they'll likely try to sell out their country to Megatron for power. It's confirmed in the first chapter of R2 that they wish to negotiate an alliance with the Decepticons.
  • Would Hurt a Child: They have no problem killing Tianzi for political power.
