* InternetBackdraft: During the first season, posts about Inami on /a/ tended to ignite arguments. Gradually died off with each subsequent season, eventually vanishing with the third, helped by the fact that Inami didn't hit Souta seriously even ''once'' during its run.
** Also, going beyond the issue of SubbingVersusDubbing (despite NIS America being newbies to the anime industry that they may not dub anything for a while), the title name change for the American release (renamed Wagnaria!!) as well as a naming of a character ([[SpellMyNameWithanS officially Popura instead of Poplar]]), have left polarizing reactions from the fandom. And that was just ''a few hours'' after the official annoucement.

* AdaptationDisplacement: Subverted. Though the web manga came first, the published manga and its anime star a different Wagnaria staff, thus making it plausible that the audience wouldn't be familiar with the web manga's cast. It does, however, play MorePoularSpinoff straight.

* TheScrappy:
** [[AbusiveParents Inami's dad]], full stop and more for being the reason why Inami is initially a [[TheScrappy Scrappy]]. Most people wonder why a [[HateSink character like him]] has any business being in a StatusQuoIsGod SliceOfLife {{Comedy}} series. A lot of people thought that even Takanashi's TheReasonYouSuckSpeech wasn't enough to deal with him. Some even see him as a half-assed way to make Inami seem more sympathetic.

** Yachiyo and her obsession with Kyouko is a good candidate for this.

* FanPreferredCouple: There are a number of people who would've preferred that Popura was the heroine.

** And as the third season reveals, the whole Takanashi clan being a bundle of neuroses was due to their domineering mother.

Added DiffLines:

** Please Don't forget crossdressing, toddler Takanashi Souta.

* FreudWasRight:
** In a rare non-sexual example, Yachiyo demonstrates a perfect example of transference when Kyouko goes away on a business trip, leaving her to attach to the one person who listens to her and consoles her on a regular basis, Jun. [[spoiler:By the final season, the fact that Jun IS the only other person she's comfortable talking with helps Yachiyo transition from thinking of him as merely a confidant to an actual significant other.]]
** Inami definitely has this. The given reason she's such an androphobe is because [[OverprotectiveDad her father]] told her from a very early age that all men were evil, going so far as to subliminally whisper it to her in her sleep. He also put heavy weights in her backpack when she was younger, which is the reason why she's so incredibly strong as well. This has [[LaserGuidedKarma backfired]] to some extent, since her severe androphobia caused her to attack him ''first'' and now he takes pains not to be seen by her at home and has to stalk her from a distance.

Of course, AllLoveIsUnrequited, so don't expect the poor guy to make any actual headway.

* FanNickname: [[spoiler:Trapanashi]] for Kotori-chan.
