Implied to have been the Chevalier of Saya and Diva's mother, Nathan steadily plays both sides between Diva's forces and Red Shield against one another, protecting Diva during her pregnancy while making sure she faces Saya and that her children will survive. Arranging his own seeming death at Saya's hands, only to slip away completely unharmed, Nathan secures the deaths of any who might harm Diva's children while entrusting them to Saya, his strings so subtle that most are completely unaware they even exist.

** Saya Otonashi is similar to Abel Nightroad of LightNovel/TrinityBlood. They felt guilty for their actions in the past (Saya, for unleashing Diva into the world; Abel, for failing to stop Cain from killing Lilith) vowed to get revenge on their siblings respectively. They're also afraid of their own nature until they accepted it. It's also noted that both of them belonged to organizations that counter the opposing side whether their siblings are. And they're also Big Eaters.
** Likewise, Diva is also like Cain Nightroad. Both are acting like a Manchild (for Cain's case, it's only in the novels and manga) and are in the opposing organizations which is supported by their NumberTwo and TheDragon (Amshel and Kampfer). They also committed heinous acts in front of their siblings (for Diva, killing the first Joel ; for Cain, killing Lilith and in the unpublished notes, ).
