Then I am Spider-Man."

* After President UsefulNotes/JamesGarfield was shot, the physician who treated him actually had the given name "Doctor." He was Dr. Doctor Willard Bliss, who had been named by his parents in honor of Dr. Samuel Willard, a pioneer of mental health treatment in America. * In Megan Kearney's ''Beauty and the Beast'', the heroine's name really is Beauty. This is framed as being a "virtue" name, much like those used in Puritan culture (her sisters are named Virtue and Temperance), and WordOfGod explains that she was given the name because when she was born, her mother exclaimed "What a little beauty!" over and over again.

The man who discovered it had his name changed to Doctor Placeholder [=McDoctorate=], while a less lucky victim ended up as [[green:SCIENTIST-LETTER]]. The entity's true name is actually [[spoiler:LOGICIAN]].

* Partial aversion in ''Machinima/CouriersMindRiseOfNewVegas.'' The Courier's name almost certainly ''isn't'' "Courier," but he puts that down as his name because he can't remember his real one due to [[EasyAmnesia waking up from being shot in the head]]. * In ''Series/{{Glee}}'', it's revealed that Principal Figgins' first name is Principal.

* Played with in the ''VideoGame/DetectivesUnited'' series (and the ''VideoGame/MysteryTrackers'' series of which it's partially a spinoff). Most of the field agents in the Mystery Trackers use code names, but Agent Brown - a minor MT character who is PromotedToPlayable in the spinoff - really is named Dorian Brown.

* The Al Bhed known as Brother[[note]]Who is also Rikku's Brother[[/note]] in ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyX'' and ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyX2'' is actually named Brother.

* Music/{{Prince}} is an interesting example, in that while he was never actually the son of a king, "Prince" actually was his first name and not just a stage name he went under. Perhaps he only went by his given name because "Prince Nelson" sounded a bit too goofy to hear from an announcer's mouth.
