* DarkAndTroubledPast: She sulks that "weirdos have stories too", she says the only time she's been happy is when she's holding Critic captive, and Doug has (as well as Christian Grey) compared her to Harley Quinn, his go-to character for what abusive relationships can do to you, so there's obviously been ''some'' tragedy in her life. The specifics given so far are the behind the scenes talk that confirms [[AbusiveParents Aunt Despair]] as her mother, and "Old Vs New: Evil Dead" heavily implying she had an abusive brother as well.
* DependingOnTheWriter: The dark comedy and violent traits that come out in her main show appearances are mostly downplayed when Tamara plays her on her own channel, particularly after the resolution of the "stalking Critic" arc when Hyper's videos branched out beyond sneaking around the studio. This is justified since many of her later appearances teamed her up with Devil Boner, bringing out their [[NightmareFetishist shared bloodlust,]] while the Tamara appearances (even the few that ''do'' feature Devil Boner) mostly play her as a very excited, if somewhat egotistical, vlogger, with little to no references to her tendencies for stalking and violence.

* DisneyDeath: Lampshaded in ''Princess Diaries 2'', where Critic says whether she's dead or not depends on if the fanbase wants to see her back again. (Given there's already a lot of “The Review Must Go On” references with her, she will most likely return.) * InnocentInaccurate: Going with the NoMeansYes belief, in a ''WebVideo/SharkJumping'' episode she talks about kissing Critic's face “like an aggressive pet”, and doesn't seem to understand the assault implications.
* LackOfEmpathy:
** Her reaction to Snob telling her she shouldn't have brought his dead cat up is to immediately fangirl over how “sensitive” he is and how much she loves him.
** At the end of the second vlog, Malcolm has an [[invoked]] ThrowItIn moment of playing a TwoFaced Tacoma saying in hushed slightly evil tones that bad things are happening to the ''WebVideo/DemoReel'' cast. Hyper quite ''happily'' doesn't care.
** In ''Old vs New Cinderella'' this is played with, as she still doesn't care about what she did to Critic, thinks the animated Cinderella is weak and is most interested in CostumePorn, but she's sad over Music/{{Prince}} dying, and has compassion for both Cinderella and Lady Tremaine in the new one.
** For a while, it appears that Devil Boner is the ''only'' one Hyper has any empathy for, as she genuinely looks worried when he's about to cut his hand off, apologizes immediately when her joke about the "dead" Mini Boner upsets him, and really doesn't enjoy fighting with him. However, as her character development continues, she does show more kindness towards others, most evidently in ''The Santa Clause 3'' where she worries about Critic overworking himself.

* LazyBum: She puts a lot of effort into stalking and fanning, but admits she doesn't have a real job.

* LoonyFan: Douchey may have been prone to SlutShaming the Critic and Chick for no reason, but at least he didn't think he actually had a chance of getting into either of their beds.
* LoveHungry: Don't (...well) worry if you don't love her though. She'll delude herself into thinking that you do.

* LovingAShadow: ''The Princess Diaries 2'' makes it very clear that she has no actual affection for Critic, and would rather have him as a stockholming CaptiveDate than be a person with his own thoughts and feelings. By her Q&A she can admit she just wants/wanted him because she thought he was hot.

* ManicPixieDreamGirl: Enforced and subverted, as when she's holding Critic prisoner and forcing him to do boyfriend things, she makes him call her actions “delightfully quirky” when they're [[AxCrazy clearly not]].

* MasculineGirlFeminineBoy: She fails at being OneOfTheBoys and Critic has always tried to overcompensate being male, but he's the one bothered by gender constraints and can act like a GoldDigger [[TheTease tease]], while she gives him things to make him love her and bashes a woman because she "friendzoned" a guy.

* NerdGlasses: The chunky black plastic with thick lenses kind. When Tamara wears the costume without the glasses but with a stalkerish expression in the ''Film/JupiterAscending'' BTS, Doug says she actually looks even scarier.

* NightmareFetishist:
** Critic carries on the yelling in the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TEAfDs2l6y0 Hyper Fangirl vlog 2]], even threatening to stab her in the stomach if she keeps going near him, and that just makes her like him more.

* NoNameGiven: She even calls ''herself'' “Hyper Fangirl”. ''Film/ThePhantomOfTheOpera2004'' explains it as less her real name, more of an identity that she can't let die, and in ''Film/ScoobyDooTheMysteryBegins'' she responds to Roger questioning her name with, "It's a way of life." Tamara added on that she's [[https://twitter.com/TamaraLChambers/status/887665789687521281 repressed her real name]]: [[spoiler: Joan or Ruth]].

* SympatheticPOV: Played with in her vlogs. Not that she's not portrayed as fucked up and in the wrong on Critic, it's just that her delusions, inability to read social situations that aren't actually in her favor and her complete disregard for Critic's feelings are more blatantly obvious when she's the one holding the camera. It makes her insidious behavior more obvious, but also makes her more of a TragicVillain (and also plays up her more likeable GenkiGirl qualities).

* {{Adorkable}}: Even with TheResenter issues coming into play and making him do some morally shitty things every now and then, his shy revealing that he's “coming to terms” with his crush on the Critic is really endearing.

* {{Adorkable}}: Shows his softer side every now and then, with RealMenWearPink thrown in there too. For example, the ''Spawn'' ending has him dancing with an army of Kermits and even Critic thinks it's endearing.

* UnfortunateImplications: [[AvertedTrope Malcolm doesn't seem to think so]]. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iyae98GFVOs He posted]] a video debating whether it's OK for Satan to be a black guy.

To add to the mix, Rob and Doug at Midwest Media Expo agreed that her logic is of Christian Grey's, and Doug in ''Island Adventure'' compares her to Harley Quinn in that she crosses {{moral event horizon}}s to try and get a horrible person to love her.

* HatesBeingTouched: The only time when she starts losing her composure, in a nod to the abuse in the game where she's from, is when Critic grabs her shoulder and stays touching her while having a rant.

* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: She's back in the studio with Critic at the end of ''Film/AliceInWonderland2010'', and they even have a bit of VillainousFriendship going, but she's never been seen again aside from being in the theme montage. She does cameo in "Freddy Vs Jason", but her relationship with Critic still isn't explored. Although she did made a recent appearance in Critic's review of ''Film/AliceThroughTheLookingGlass''.

* YourCheatingHeart: He's married to a Mrs Christ (according to him ''Literature/TheDaVinciCode'' got it wrong) but also ReallyGetsAround.

* YourCheatingHeart: In ''Film/ThePhantomOfTheOpera2004'', the ending reveals that she's still dating Devil Boner while trying to get Critic. When the latter calls her out, she condescendingly tells him she has a life outside of him. In Connecticon 2016, Doug and Tamara laugh about Hyper being smitten with Devil Boner, but still wanting to "play the field/keep her options open".

* YourCheatingHeart: As two of the TMZ reporters.

** In ''Film/PlanetOfTheApes'', when Critic makes racist comments and condescendingly boops him on the nose, he gets to punch Critic in the face with no repucussions.

* RageAgainstTheHeavens: She has a ''Film/PlanetOfTheApes''-parody breakdown when she realizes they're remaking ''Film/JemAndTheHolograms''.

* TheAce: He's cast as the cool kid in ''Film/TheMonsterSquad'' review, and in the Truthful Preview at the start of ''Film/PlanetOfTheApes'', gets called “that one guy who's better than everyone else”.

** He might like Critic taking him out for dates to assuage his WhiteGuilt, but during ''Film/PlanetOfTheApes'', he moves in and gives him a DeathGlare when he has no idea what he's talking about regarding slavery, and punches him when he gets a patronizing “boop” on the nose.

* WomanChild: She still acts like an EmoTeen, but is as at least as old as Tamara.[[note]]Her Facebook shows she was born in 1984, but her Q&A states her birth year as 1991.[[/note]] This trait gets played with in ''Film/SpiderMan'' when she dresses and acts like a fancy snob to prove how much the film she used to love is ''totally'' beneath her, but by the end of the review accepts it as a GuiltyPleasure and goes to watch them with Benny in their pajamas.

* DealWithTheDevil: Pretty obvious, though in this case he was responsible for Critic's great [[{{Superman}} Zod]] impression and Souless' success with bad Creator/DrSeuss movies. He also gave Aunt Despair demonic powers and would be more than happy to give Hyper Critic if she sold her soul over.

* InnocentBigot: She has no idea what happens to black guys in movies and doesn't much care, and her first insult back to the (trans male) Critic is calling him a [=PMSing=] girl.

Orlando Belisle Jr. is one of the recurring guest actors for the show, better known as Roger The Guardian Angel and Malachite from WebVideo/SuburbanKnights.

Also known as The Ghost of Christmas Future, and Quinn from WebVideo/DemoReel, Jim also does the photoshop tricks for the show and minor characters for the sketches.

Better known as the crazy family from WebVideo/DemoReel and the Adventure Time VLOGS co-hosts, they also contribute as background characters for the sketches.
